Twitter Dying
 

I got a Twitter channel that I have built over a few years for TS and now has about 150k
Since Musk took over I have seen nothing but drops in traffic to it, people leaving for other platforms, his new rules, his annoying things like tweetdeck not working anymore etc

I been considering buying the Verify 84 bucks for the year as that is suppose to boost your search presence etc.
I am not a model I just promote sponsors so it is a twitter that juts has affiliate links , pics and mini clips ,

Is anyone actually getting verified that runs a Twitter account and who is not a model, is it worth it? I also have a feeling I will buy the verification and then Twitter team will flag the feed as spam (not because it is spam ) but just cause of the adult content and just take my money haha..

Just curious on peoples thoughts on it

Why not set up a new twitter channel and get a blue tick and see if that helps.

Run one with no tick and one with a tick.

I wonder how long before we mock people for saying they posted a tweet, and we say did you do that after listening to a gramophone after you went to the dancehall.

I verified my non-adult account. Same brand, just SFW media of the content and links to the still adult sites.

If anything gets marked as sensitive (plenty which isn't even nude or that risque), I typically deleted it because I don't want the account force-marked as sensitive, since there isn't any way to get that cleared.

This was the only account that was growing anyway, so hard to say if it's better or worse with Blue.

Also old Tweetdeck is working currently, but who knows for how long.

Its crazy because of search results, people not being used to a letter, the connection to porn....Musk is highly overrated in the creativity and coolness departments.

Agreed, about as stupid as paying $40 something billion for it in the first place. I like that he was for free speech and all and made that type of change, but other than that, he really messed up horribly.

so Musk said he bought it for the userbase because it would be billions cheaper and a lot faster than building a user list from scratch. he never cared about tweetering or free speech. Musk wants all those users doing X transactions.

this is all documented in recent interviews. i'd take a billing play over an ad-supported social media toilet any day. 40 billion to make a trillion.

Yep, pornhub scenario show a lot how is better to have billing supported model then ad supported model.

The Free Speech angle was 100% bullshit catering to right-wing nutjobs, of which Musk is one.

His love for "unrestricted free speech" emboldened trolls to flood Twitter with racist posts and Nazi memes as soon as Musk took over. And it's the main reason why advertisers dropped him like a hot potato.

Musk made $176 million when he sold Paypal. his comment about the sale recently is he wishes he had owned it. he was the biggest shareholder but owned only 12%.

I don't know enough about the numbers but it seems 40 odd billion is waay to much. I would imagine it would be cheaper to build from scratch with his influence and knowledge of tech, plus his connections etc...

seems like he wants a turnkey userbase to start using it next month. fast revenue to bail out that piece of dogshit product.

I don't think he's a right wing nut job. I think he's a plain old nut job.

He is obviously brilliant and dumb at the same time.

I realize his free speech angle was to build his brand. All businesses and politicians say whatever they need to to make money. So I'm not saying he is the hero of free speech by any means. I think he does believe it to some degree though and I am still happy he implemented it.

I can be happy with a person's decision and support his position even though I don't trust or like him.

Conversely I can really like someone but not be afraid to criticize them, which seems to be hard for most people these days.

Elon is neutral for me.

I've seen quite a marked decrease in the number of impressions and the number of clicks. It's certainly not working as well as it was. I can't see how getting a Blue Tick would make much difference.

Elon wants a super app like Wechat, but he forgets the most important part, in China it is mandatory and not optional. I highly doubt anyone in Europe other than his simps wants their bank and mortgage on X/twitter along with the scams and memes.

If what he wants is a super app bank, users will have to provide a lot of data to comply with anti-money laundering laws. Which goes against freedom of expression, if there is any data leak, many people with anonymous political accounts could be exposed.
