I think one of the saddest stories I ever read about was about some poor guy who caught some kind of terrible infection in his face, and they had to remove his nose, nasal passages and some other stuff. Once they got in, they saw that the infection had moved to both of his eyes, and they had to remove them too. Imagine waking up, wondering why its pitch black, and being told you now have no face and no eyes. Holy shit....
