All adult traffic gone in Sept 2023?

Similarweb.com is far from being a reliable source of info about traffic but it's just an insight.

Around 6-7th of each month they release the stats of the previous month. Usually I track 8-9 sites. In September 2023 all of them lost millions of visits, in the worst cases billions (pornhub.com and xvideos.com).

What's going on? :helpme

The issue with Similiarweb is that it only works if your website is using Google Analytics, if you use anything else like Matomo then Similiarweb will not show proper numbers

could be to do with all the actions xvideos & pornhub have taken over the past few months regarding the content admissions, maybe they´re losing traffic :2 cents:

There have been several Google updates in September. And right now there are 2 new updates underway.

Something is obviously not reporting right, if you think people stopped masturbating randomly, you're hillarious.

Similarweb is ass for tracking site traffic.

Take what you see there with a grain of salt. If you REALLY want a clearer picture, you need to use it in conjunction with a few other tools like Ahrefs, Semrush, etc. If they all correlate, then it might be indicative of actual traffic losses

yea the helpful content update might have caused it.

If you host third-party content on your main site or in your subdomains, understand that such content may be included in site-wide signals we generate, such as the helpfulness of content. For this reason, if that content is largely independent of the main site's purpose or produced without close supervision or the involvement of the primary site, we recommend that it should be blocked from being indexed by Google.
that seems new?

SEMRush also reported a massive dive for tons of big sites and fast rising smaller sites.

Word on the street is that this is part of a wonky hamfisted crackdown on sloppy AI generated content or EAT-related

For adult, the cause might be a bit more complicated

similarweb at many sites show the wrong statistics badly. one of the sites I manage has about 1 million visits per month... similarweb shows 7 mil visits per month

I used to post some of my content on Pornhub but they became impossible to work with. Their traffic took a huge nose dive and at the same time they were asking for all kinds of insane age verification methods like eSignature, which required me to find the models I shot years ago and get them to sign a digital release form. I only post on Pornhub Premium now since they haven't gotten that crazy yet. I get better results on Clips4Sale, ManyVids and FapHouse now. But I still make more from my own paid site.

Anyone noticing a loss in "G" traffic since September?

I've seen a big drop a few times since then. Many other webmasters complaining too I hear, both in adult and mainstream.

I've had several drops from Sept to now.

LOL, those updates all seem to blend into each other. Like one looong update that doesn't seem to change the results I see as a surfer. All my searches usually go to the same copy-paste authority sites. As a webmaster my traffic has dipped but I think that has to do with Google lumping adult together in one category and deciding to give it more or less each update.
