Yes I agree that is what rape is often about however false accusations are also about control power and making money. I am saying that because it could explain fake accusations while these persons probably don't think they lie. Then you can add a second line of defense ("anyway we are living in a patriarchal society bla bla", "you were so unfair with us, that everything is allowed", "we are living in a rape culture, how is it fair" ?) to motivate any arrangements with the reality.

Rape has been politicized and weaponized. If a man shows persistence in his advances and the woman capitulates and later regrets it she can claim rape and succeed in the court. Certainly in the court of public opinion. That's fucked up. If women want true equality then they should stand up to a man like a man. If they don't want to have sex they should make it clear and not "give in." If they fear physical harm and give into sex for the sake of their safety then they should report it as rape ASAP. Not 10 years later.
