The middle ages lasted around 2000 years and mostly included "ancient Rome" in that time period.

Ancient Rome because the food would be better.

Ancient Rome, definitely. I'll take public bathrooms over no plumbing and baths considered unhealthy, plus plague. Added bonus would be being able to warn Pompeii of the eruption if I was around at the right time.

On the topic, a recent read "Frugal Wizard's Guide to Medieval England" is a good toe-dip into traveling to Medieval times with modern/advanced tech, would love to do something like that.
