Since there are those out there who are unaware or simply don't keep up I'm sure they are wondering what's going on. I've tried to stay ahead so that the clients are not hit hard by these updates.

Always if you're doing things on your own - please keep up with these things

Google results are utterly shit now. I've realised that the reason I can't find what I'm looking for any more is not because the information is not out there, it's because Google is now a sales engine not a search engine, so it uses every opportunity to try and sell me something instead of telling me the answer I want.

This morning I was searching for something to do with DirectAdmin. None of the results on Google answered my query, they either were irrelevant to Directadmin or irrelevant to the specific issue. First result on Bing for the same query gave me the answer I wanted.

Exactly, I now use Microsoft Copilot to find things. Another solution can be Yandex. On Yandex I can find old articles that Google won't show anymore for some reason.

Google applied the Woke Agenda where they banned 90% of info based on the right to be forgotten and different European requests that destroyed their Search Engine. Google over-reacted to all those Politician Requests and over-reacted being politically correct and decided to destroy their search engine.

It's completely deliberate. In 2020 the head of Google Ads, Prabhakar Raghavan, led an internal coup that saw him installed as head of Search. Basically this was because Google Search was doing its job too well and not enough people were being forced to click on ads. Since then he's done everything he can to enshitify the serps so ad revenues go up.

It's so bad that Google no longer gives the link to the site and meta description of 2 of my sites, but 2 different links to the control panel of the 2 sites :(:(

There was actually an article that supports your conclusion. A google exec who previously SANK Yahoo search is now in charge of ad growth and there's lots of pressure on Google search to produce SHIT RESULTS so people can load more search pages on Google. More pages = More $$$

I had one site that has made me $$$$$ over the years totally wiped out. What I don't understand is that I was still updating it with fresh originally written content 2 or 3 times a month, and yet all these hundreds of clone 'best porn list' sites still get ranked by Google.

Gmail is also blocking emails from adult sites now. Even when it's not a spam and directed only to a specific individual. If you send email from an adult based domain it will block it. Even if you send an email from a Yahoo account to a Gmail account and the text mentions a url to an adult site it will block it. I still haven't figured out how to fix this or go around it. I followed their rejection email instructions and it didn't work. If you know how to fix this please let me know. Thanks!

Yep I never use Google for search anymore. Pure utter trash results.

Did it get penalized or was it deindexed?

Google is actually deindexing mofos nowadays

Scary shit

mechanicvirus 05-07-2024 01:40 PM

Is it goo-gull, or gew-gal.

Not deindexed, just gone from the first page for some good keywords to the fifth or sixth page.

These updates have a cascading affect on businesses even if your site/domain did not get directly hit. The update did affect other sites that you do business with so everything is connected in a way.

The worst part is waking up one day to find all your money making sites gone from Page 1 and are now on Page 50.

Better than deindexing

This is true. At the same time, I'd almost rather it had been deindexed, then it would be easier to accept that it's a write-off, and focus on my remaining handful of money making sites.

I didn't see any positive results from the March update.

jimstones22 05-10-2024 01:42 PM

HCU update in September took about 50-60% of our traffic on multiple sites. From what I have read on various forums, reddit, twitter, etc. there have been no recoveries from that so far.

I was hoping the March Core update to bring in some recoveries, but that was wishful thinking. Instead this update took another 50% on top of our traffic leaving us with about 25% of what we had in September.

Search results now favor reddit and quora heavily, and have more spam, scraper sites than ever before. I cannot say that they have improved their search results at all.

mechanicvirus 05-10-2024 03:02 PM

Should we all start porn sites on quora now?

Reddit is popping, son

Some people on this forum already have decent-sized sub-reddits
