Expired domain question
I've been watching a domain for some time and it just expired two months ago... But it's available for purchase. When does it become available for purchase?

Did you vape too much this morning? |

The domain name expired and should be available for purchase. My question is how long after a domain name expires can you purchase it? |
Probably depends on the registrar, did you email them?

Grace and redemption period for .com is typically 60-85 days after expiry date, allowing current owner to recover it. After this, providing it is not backordered or registrar keeps, then it will be available to the general public.

After 80 days keep checking the domain status. It will be in pending delete for 5 days before getting deleted and available for purchase.
|
The registrar likely decided to hang on to it and offer it for sale at an inflated price rather than allow to proceed into redemption and follow the usual process..

If you really want to pickup expired domains, use services that nab them up like SnapNames.com

For GoDaddy its after 60 days or some shit like that. Usually registrars release them after around 30ish, but some renew em themselves the sneaky bastards.

It generally takes 45-90 days for an expired domain to be available for purchase as I have observed. The period depends on the registrar it seems.
