How Disinformation is Shared - Disney Castle burned to the ground.

So lately there has been pictures and video showing Disney castle burning down - thing is it was all fake. It was made to generate hype yet the other side effect was misinformation and fear.

This is how news and fake news is created along with AI generated posts supporting one theory vs. another. Be careful the choices and information you share - it likely is fake.

No, Cinderella Castle Has Not “Burned to the Ground” at Disney World

Some casual Disney fans spiraled this week after it was reported that a fire had burned down Cinderella Castle at Magic Kingdom – which, we’re glad to say, categorically did not happen.

A TikTok shared by Mouse Trap News appeared to show the park’s centerpiece up in flames while guests casually walked down Main Street, U.S.A., with a caption reading: “We aren’t crying, you are… okay we are too.”

The video (which was set to the emotional track “Married Life” from Up) also claimed that Disney had intentionally started the fire as an excuse to replace Cinderella Castle with another icon, such as Doofenshmirtz Evil Incorporated from Phineas and Ferb or a Spirit Halloween store.

With over 24.9 million views, the story quickly circulated social media, with many taking to the TikTok’s comment section to question the story’s validity. Several others users chipped in with their own ‘proof’ that the incident occurred, writing “I was there when it happened, they started selling Disney castle smores at all the gift shops,” “I can confirm all this I’m Cinderella,” and “I was there, I saw Ron DeSantis running from the castle with a Bic lighter and a bottle of lighter fluid.”

I think people unconsciously know it's fake, but choose to drown in the drama as a way to avoid their emotional issues.

People want to be afraid or outraged. Covid, Trump, Abortion, Immigration. They can't wait to be immersed and consumed by it, even though they say the opposite, or complain they are suffering because of it.

I think this "information" is the disinformation.
Nobody thought it was real, but you have to be afraid for disinformation!
I think this is the campaign that children must be protected against disinformation.

Good point. Making something out of nothing to "protect" others is a way of keeping the moral high ground. It's showing how the "other side" is bad and how it's a 'good thing I am here' to protect you all. For all we know the disinformation was generated by the same people who then turn around and expose it. The internet and media in general have used that tactic since forever.

I wonder how easy it would be for a group of us on GFY to come up with some 'fake news' and start posting it on out social medias for it to go viral and believed by the crazies in the USA... it seems more and more these days that the Idiocracy contingent of society is getting larger and larger by the day...

Lets not forget Hydroxychloroquine and bleach injections to cure COVID...

I'd assume it was supposed to be a funny metaphor for the backlash on The Acolyte non-canon Star Wars release. Obviously not to be taken as literal news.

Basically what mopek and Tasty said

Exactly. And what you've just said further strengthens my point, they are preparing for their anti-white racism that has been leaked. It is merely a form of connived damage control.

I don't think it's anti-white racism as much as it is doing what they think the dominant culture wants them to do so they can look good. All companies do that.

"Look, we recycle! Look, we implement covid policies! Look, our product uses less emissions! Look, we have a diversity team! Look, we have more women on staff than other companies! etc... Look at how good we are, now buy from us."
