CMS or Website completely created from scratch?

Hello community,

I have an important question to ask. Do you create all adult websites using CMS platforms (free or paid), or are there specific target audiences for which you create completely customized sites?

Let me explain better. I work in the creation of showcase and e-commerce websites for small businesses and large companies. For small businesses, regardless of their budget, I typically use a CMS because it is easier to create, manage, and has a lower cost (WordPress, Joomla, Prestashop, etc.). However, when an important company commissions a site for a franchise, I cannot rely on a CMS. In such cases, I need to create a custom solution because it is more independent, offers greater security, and, apart from the hosting and domain, there are no other monthly or annual costs.

When looking at most adult sites, they seem different to me. For instance, consider the difference between Pornhub and Brazzers.

You're comparing a Tube site with a membership site. Both of them use a CMS, but they're a little different but also very similar with features and options. If the client's budget is tight, we recommend pre-made templates; then we explaining to them that there's only so much we can do to chance the design of a template.

For a custom design, we create the website using Photoshop. Once the client approves the design and it's perfect for them, we move to coding the site in responsive HTML so it's flawless on any device it's viewed on. At this point, we verify that there are zero errors and move on to the CMS stage. We work hand and hand with Mechbunny for most of our custom and out of the box solutions. Most of our clients want a custom design so it's not very offend we use pre-made templates and we've never used a site builder for adult sites.

from scratch using your own cms will be much more expensice for the client. you are probably looking at a 40-80x multiple since a lot of work will go into developing a custom cms just for them.

It all depends...

When this is a new project and unless the owner has tons of money and a very unique set of requirements, an existing CMS is always the better place to start. You can always get fancy and invest in crafting your own CMS/custom-coded site once you know it will earn money and the investment will be worthwhile.
