I saw a Cyber Truck in real life and damn!

I looks so much better on the internet.
In real life, it's was the biggest, ugliest shit I've ever seen.
It looked so stupid parked near other cars.

But I understand why people are buying them; because I wanted one.
The hype got me too; but it was the years of delays that backed me down; plus
Elon initially said the basic model would cost under 40K. WTF happened to that?

Definitely the dumbest, ugliest vehicle I've ever seen!

Brad

Sly 07-30-2024 11:11 AM

I see at least one every time I leave the house here in Austin. A lot of them have wraps.

Hideous. Absolutely hideous.

TheLegacy 07-30-2024 11:17 AM

Never seen one and besides - they don't work in Canada due to the snow and wet weather

Shoplifter 07-30-2024 12:07 PM

I've see one up close and thought it looked very cheaply made with poor sheet metal tolerances. Also the huge plastic wheel covers looked terrible.

The buil quality on other Tesla vehicles seems much better

JesseQuinn 07-30-2024 02:01 PM

someone I know posted a pic of a slightly compressed dumpster bin with wheels. so apt

I just wish they hadn't fixed the hood auto-closing problem so one could at least still peel and chop carrots on them

Mr Pheer 07-30-2024 03:07 PM

I've seen a few in Las Vegas, looks like a dirty Samsung refrigerator rolling down the street.

Something about not having a mechanical steering connection, I think, is a reaaaallllly bad idea.

Does it have regular hydraulic brakes? I hope those aren't "brake by wire" too!

This is the #1 reason I would never buy or even drive one. Apart from the fact that it's hideous and stupid of course.

Climate deniers hate cyber twuk

ruff 07-30-2024 07:40 PM

I saw one this afternoon on I-5; it looked like a mobile dumpster.

Huggles 07-30-2024 07:50 PM

Should be interesting to see what happens with the Cybertruck over the next 10 years...

From watching Hoovie's garage, WhistlinDiesel, and a ton of other YouTubers talk about the Cybertruck and rant and rave about it, I'd say the Cybertruck's pros and cons are as follows:

Cons:
-Looks crazy
-Cheap plastic body parts
-Sharp edges on self-closing doors and such
-Terrible rear visibility
-Not very good headroom in the back
-Does being a truck "differently"

Pros
-Looks crazy
-High tech
-Fast
-Does being a truck "differently"
-Is 100% American innovation

I've heard Tesla guys say "Every airplane you go on is fly-by-wire and there is no mechanical connection", yeah but, they all have hydraulic manual backup controls, right?

But the Cybertruck doesn't... the steering wheel is just a joystick basically?!

Given the blatant disregard Tesla has for safety and build quality, comparing them to airplanes is hilarious.

hottoddy 07-30-2024 09:08 PM

we've got quite a few running around here in Oregon - most are wrapped with creative color schemes, but a few are still stainless. i think they're ok but am generally anti-ev for now.

Have you watched the "hot dog test" videos where they simulate your finger getting caught in some of the automatic trunk/door-closing on the Tesla?

Apparently it has fucked some people up, according to rumors on YouTube...

Look at the YouTube link I posted. They did it with carrots!

This thing seems like a death wish with kids.

Oh yeah the sharp door edges!

I saw some clip where some dude had a nasty gash on his leg from bumping into it.

My inner child totally thinks the Cybertruck is super cool...

But the adult side of me thinks things like no mechanical steering is cwazy...

That's something that I didn't know about.
Yeah, fuck that!

I live on Main Street, in a little village across the street from the pub. There's one parked outside my house right now and pretty much every Thursday night.

King Mark 08-01-2024 04:15 PM

I live in what seems like the land of Tesla. They're everywhere. Still have not seen a Cyber Truck in real life.

Did they not roll the edges of the sheet metal? It's like, the #1 rule in working with sheet metal that may come into contact with anything.

Major (Tom) 08-01-2024 09:53 PM

But muh spaceman bad

When I had an audi tt, before it became a chic car, it was a concept car much like the cyber truck. Some people aren’t ready for it. If it was 45k we’d all have one. Yup, we would.

The Audi TT was great, before I chose my S2000, I test drove an Audi TT, a Subaru STI, and an Evo... S2000 was just too sweet with the 9000 RPM redline.

Props to Tesla for building something unique... most cars look soooooo alike. Go to any mall parking lot in Canada and 98% of vehicles are black, white, or grey, and they all look the same...

I've had a reservation since the first few months of being able to order it. I'm still getting it. Works great for my tiny house. I can run to the super charger and fill up the CT then come back and top off the battery banks on the tiny house any time solar doesn't cover.

As a trans woman I hate Elon for being a butthurt tool about his trans daughter. But also as a trans woman I want the bullet proof panels and bullet resistant glass. The 17" lift at the touch of a button, and it being faster than most things on the road.

I'll be polishing the sides myself, and wrapping the top from the bottom of the windows up glass black and hot pink.

I won't have my financing in place for a few years, they offered me the foundation series so far and not doing that at 118k. I am getting the Beast version but within 2 or so years the prices are going to come way down, the battery pack cells are likely to be different, and the bugs will be worked out.

I think if Elon hadn't turned into right wing bigot boy, that a lot more people would be supporting the CyberTruck than hating on it. I honestly can't wait to get mine, and hope the hate has subsided by then.

I'm loving some of the wild designs seen so far!

Please post pics of yours when it's done!

War... war never changes.

VikingMan 08-11-2024 03:29 PM

The cybertruck wrapped up like Eddie Van Halen's guitar drove past me a few days ago.

teleporn 08-15-2024 05:49 AM

Yeah they're pretty god damn ugly... never saw one in real life though

$5 submissions 08-15-2024 04:13 PM

Looks like something out of DEATHRACE 2000 with David Carradine

Anyone know if they will upgrade its look?

LizzieLustFan34 08-17-2024 01:03 PM

I been seeing them in my area. They are the ugliest things I have seen and they cost more than 100k.

Huggles 08-17-2024 01:23 PM

I've seen photos floating around of a collision between a Cybertruck and a Dodge Ram... and the Cybertruck is barely scratched and the Ram is fucking fucked!

offjack 08-19-2024 05:49 PM

They look retarded, truth be told

Zuzana Designs 08-19-2024 05:58 PM

My kids and I saw one today in town. They thought it was really cool. I'm not a fan of the look and always thought they could have been so much better looking. They definitely stick out though

blackmonsters 08-19-2024 06:49 PM

Why you shouldn’t slam the door of your Cybertruck
