Anyone Seen The New Alien Movie?

Going to watch it tonight. Hope it's good. I'm a HUGE fan of the franchise (first 2 movies actually) though there hasn't been a good Alien flick in like 30 + years lol. So I have my doubts. The director is from my country, so it should be interesting nonetheless.

adultinnovation 08-21-2024 01:31 PM

it will probably be shit

CaptainHowdy 08-21-2024 01:43 PM

I just saw the trailer and all the woke checkboxes are ticked so it must be bad . . .

CurrentlySober 08-21-2024 01:47 PM

i cunt a4d2 See The New Alien Movie... :(

The Porn Nerd 08-21-2024 02:10 PM

The Critical Drinker (my go-to movie critic) said the movie looks awesome - in terms of the old school style of the first two films - but then it falls apart as the movie gets going. I love the first two movies as well but will probably wait to see it when it comes out on DVD.

Enjoy tho and hope you have a great time!

J. Falcon 08-21-2024 02:21 PM

I'll be back with my review tomorrow.

Yes, I think there is perhaps a 75% chance that it will suck.

Publisher Bucks 08-21-2024 02:35 PM

It was a little drawn out honestly, that said, overall I did enjoy it.

A lot less 'woke' than I was expecting too which was a plus :)

Drawn out like the first one... or in a boring way?

The first one was really slow but also insanely intense. That and the original Blade Runner (another "drawn out" flick) are the two best science fiction movies of all time.

A little of both honestly, some parts they could have just cut entirely, parts just seemed like they were left in to pad the length of the movie out.

There's one scene with floating alien blood, without giving too much away, it just seemed exceptionally drawn out for what should have been a simple 5-10 seconds scene imho.

Most of the movie I loved, the characters were well portrayed, plot was decent and the effects and action perfect, although I'll never look at sex the same way again :1orglaugh

The alien is now genderfluid and gay

Retiree 08-22-2024 12:11 AM

At this point I am not able to tolerate any wokeness in movies, so not watching anything made after 2020.

Nothing wrong with her. Are you afraid of strong women? What does your BF think about that?

Ok, so it was pretty damn good. Much better than I had expected (my expectations were super low, so maybe that helped). Literally no woke shit in it, except for the maybe choosing a black dude for the synthetic character. Bu then it actually seemed kind of racist, how he was there to serve and work for the other characters LOL.

Anyway, I digress. It was probably the best Alien movie since Aliens (1986). However, that's not saying much, as everything that came after that was pure shit, including Prometheus (hated that crap). I like how they kept the story simple and straightforward and didn't try to get too fancy with it. They brought in a lot of stuff from the old movies, including characters, and even copied some lines word for word.

Didn't like the twist at the end, but that's just me.

CaptainHowdy 08-22-2024 10:20 AM

I liked Poometheus . . .

adultinnovation 08-22-2024 11:38 AM

Alien was the best. The second movie was just a money grab with cheesy shit like fighting aliens in a power loader

I didn't spot anything.
It's a bit retro-futuristic for some stuffs.
I don't believe in the physic/chemistry of the alien, that puts me a bit out.
Otherwise it was an ok scifi movie.
I would expect they develop the universe a bit more but Alien is a horror sci-fi Franchise, so i shouldn't ask too much

I ve never complained about Vasquez.
They never said she is a woman THEREFORE she has to be strong.
I don't see a problem of being a tough woman, it's the fact that they are totally caricatural that annoys me.

Check the movies where she stagged:
https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Jenette_Goldstein

That's a cool set of movies

That is why I liked "Alien VS Predator", it was unapologetically dumb . . .

You're crazy. That's one of the best sci-fi action movies of all time, right up there with T2.

mechanicvirus 08-22-2024 01:54 PM

Movie was solid unlike my stool sample

Victor-E 08-22-2024 11:37 PM

I loved the old SNL sketch called Alienses. ET was the alien and they accidentally shoot him and plant booze and a gun on him to cover it up.

It must suck to have to go through life hating everything because there is a woman or a gay person in a tv show or movie..

adultinnovation 08-23-2024 12:34 PM

here comes crocket to save the day :1orglaugh

Most of the beloved classic movies from the 70s and 80s are pretty slow and "drawn out"... I find when trying to introduce people to them for the first time they do not hold their attention.

That's precisely why most movies today are unwatchable trash.

PornoStar69 08-25-2024 03:25 PM

Cost me £18 to see Alien: Romulus - watched it on the Monday (10:40am)

I bought a load of food from Lidl (hehehe) - the cola and popcorn have gone up at the cinema.

Vasquez in Aliens (1986) played Janelle in Terminator 2: Judgment Day

Directors put hidden themes into movies to push a certain agenda (Facts)

Some good figures.

Budget
$80,000,000 (estimated)

Gross worldwide
$225,439,383

You forgot to mention if you liked the movie or not?

wankawonk 08-25-2024 08:24 PM

it was good.

I didn't notice anything woke about it, the casting was "diverse" but it wasn't distracting imo.

I don't know if it'll turn out to be rewatchable but there were moments in the theatre where I said out loud, "fuuuuuck yeah". there's some seriously gruesome shots.
