$50 at your nearest store in snacks?
https://i.ibb.co/CPmrKNQ/20240911-211109.jpg
Got paid by the best sponsor of all time today, sent some money to my baby momma, and hit up the local gas station for $50 in snacks. What does $50 in snacks at your nearby favourite walking-distance store look like? The wasabi cashews are fucking incredible but like $5 or $6 I think  |
but this is the greatest economy ever

I'm really shocked that buying booze and pre-prepared stuff at a gas station (add a 50-100% markup on whatever you buy the moment you walk in) costs $50
you sprained your wrist so you can't even make your own sandwich and salad? for me walking along my street, maybe $8 USD for an average day of food spread out over a week. I'm not gonna eat a whole cauliflower in one day biggest expenses are my protein shakes, frozen blueberries (a splurge at $15 per bag, but I love them so) and imported pasta sauce (delicious eaten cold from the jar with a spoon). all that I get at the grocery a few blocks down the road also like jerk tofu my neighbour who runs a little food spot makes for me, I just buy the tofu which is cheap cuz no duty on food imports from China. take from that what you will. $4 will buy a package that lasts me days add in cigs, call it $15-20 per day don't even get me started on cat litter though for real, why on earth are you buying stuff at a gas station? was that sandwich even edible? :1orglaugh I think the biggest problem you're facing re costs is lack of local grocery stores. a lot of CA towns have faced that for a while as the big chains took over independent stores (or drove them out if they stayed independent by underpricing them) and then closed the ones that sold cuz not profitable enough. the phenomenon is called 'food deserts' that's not inflation, that's capitalism at it's worst but that can't stop you from making your own sandwiches and salad. bet the booze was half the bill though |

second search result was about them settling a lawsuit earlier this year for 500 mil for price fixing. I guess stuff still on the shelves bought at the higher price is still out there, or the stores are just all 'hey, they'll buy at it this price, why lower it now that we source for less cost?' https://www.meatpoultry.com/articles...%20this%20case in CA, Loblaw (they own a bunch of chains, including Walmart CA) just settled a class action lawsuit about price fixing bread. Canada Bread got fined 50 mil for doing the exact same thing https://carolhughes.ndp.ca/news/brea...nadian-history I get inflation is real, just saying there are other factors at play and buying booze and food at a gas station doesn't help. it's always gonna cost way more |
American breakfast including coffee + fresh juice 4 usd.
Diner in Thai restaurant with fresh juice 4 usd. And i saw the prices are almost the same as before corona. Little cheaper, the Bath is weaker now. |
Considering the fact that i would just steal / shoplift as many items as possible, and not pay for any of them, negates the amount acquired...
Simple answer is 'As much as i can get away with without being caught'... |

Every now and then I'll hit 7/11 for a 6 and a candy bar. I want to say around $15. Candy bars are typically $3, damn. But it's a convenience store, not the greatest litmus test. They stack on charges because you are there and "desperate" for food.
Buying meals at a convenience store is just burning money. Can't imagine it's any good either? |

Tomorrow it is time for an 1 hour massage for 10 usd (inlcuding tip). If i was Huggles i would head for the local Coscto, Wallmart or market. Or better, just take a plane to Mexico or Thailand. |
Squirrel meat is holding steady

Liquor is a snack now?
|
I like the convenience of delivery, so I'm pretty sure half of that $50 is going toward delivery and tip!
I think I'd rather skip the snacks and go straight for some Taco Bell right now, though. |
I usually eat out on lunch so I only buy stuff for dinner which is usually, some Kelloggs coco or rice krispies with milk.
I dont like to spend on food so I usually got with cheap stuff with long shelf life. |
You would have been able to get more actual snacks if you didn't spend a portion of that $50 on alcohol and do your purchasing at a gas station.
I could take my $50 to the local Walmart and get a shit ton of snacks. If I was broke, like you, I'd take that $50 to the local Dollar Tree and live like a fat ass king of snacks for a few nights. Victim card declined. |

Liquor is a snack here for sure. Canadian boys are raised on rye whisky |
Too bad you don't have a AMPM near by, they have burgers, hot dogs and rolled tacos, and you can add your own condiments and topings.

spending $7/day in food total here (200thb) and thats eating out 3 times daily at local markets, stalls, and 7-11 for my daily dark chocolate bars which are 6thb each. with respect to jessequinn the supplements vitamins coffee and herbs cost about the same as my food budget. snacking, smoking, fucking, coffeeing, drinking, gyming, running, etc are all interchangeable addictions so its best you live somewhere where your vices are sustainable. addicts always have to be doing something they cant just chill and sit still

don't keep a lot in my fridge or cupboards. the social exchange of buying something warmed by the sun gives me an appetite. the fridge is mostly for nailpolish, condoms and (tap) ice water what I def don't do is spend half a food budget on gas station booze and shitty prepackaged wilted lettuce and stale bread and then complain about rising food costs you have to admit it's a lot easier for us outside NA folks though. I'm guessing no one sells mangoes on Huggles' stretch of highway that stands in as replacement for actual street life JA fits me, outside the city fresh food is so plentiful I can revert back to my preference for eating really small portions every few hours without looking strange. like, I'm hungry, I get a fresh lime water. then later, buy an otaheite apple, etc throughout the day as to my cigs... I don't know, I don't snack.
I just eat steak and broccoli |
I rarely go to the corner store instead plan ahead and buy from grocery store where I can get more for cheaper. If by a long shot I do go - I visit the mom and pop stores to support them not big convenience store companies
|
go to a 7/11 and buy some hot "food" and for 2 for 5 drinks

Grabbing my popcorn for the piss stained carpet in a state run nursing home for the mentally ill this thread will be.
