Ben Q Monitor Bar - My Review - Should you steal one?

Last winter I made a thread asking if anyone had one, as I was considering stealing one for myself. I didn't get any replies, so I forgot about it...

As the nights are drawing in now, I bit the bullet and stole one today. Its very nice and look forward to later on when the sun goes down, to wipe some poo on it...

So bottom line is if anyone else is thinking of stealing one, go grab it asap - Very nice non glare light to illuminate the mess on your desk, but not glare on the screen...

I have 4 BenQ monitors. What does it do?

Looks like just a led lightbar that hangs off the monitor?

It IS a LED lightbar that hangs off the monitor, nothing more exciting than that, but it just throws a light down onto your desk. Enable the keyboard mouse etc to be more visible along with any notes or written stuff you might be using on the desk...

Yes, a table lamp would do the same, but it would also throw shadows if placed to the side, and also glare on the monitor as a reflection.

The lightbar uses asymmetric light pattern so it illuminates just the desk infront the monitor, but doesn't shine on the screen itself whatsoever...

It looks nice as well when the lights are off in the room and you are sat at the PC...

But why does it sell for over $100?

This is easily duplicated with a 3d printer, about 90 cents in filament and a 62 cents worth of LED ribbon from Amazon.

Amazing.

Coz u wont get the asymmetric light effect if u DIY it...

I read some good reviews about the BenQ lightbar and am thinking about getting one, but my monitor is a freggin' fat-assed 49" Ultrawide and I'm not sure if they make one that will fit.... I guess I will just bite the bullet and steal one for myself.

I know the one in the vid is a samsung, but he mentions the spacers...

So, yes, it will fit, provided you get the 'Plus' or the 'Halo' version - They come with an extra bit that goes on the clamp for highly curved monitors. Infact, when I was researching on youtube, I saw someone using it on his 49 inch Dell - The most basic one doesn't come with that extra bit, but the two other options do :thumbsup:thumbsup:thumbsup

Plus, it looks nice too! I'm not much of a 'Ohhh, lets make this look nice' kinda person, but when I see it inplace, illuminating my desk, I think 'Yup, that looks nice - That was missing all along'...
