JASC PSP 7 and XP problems?

I run Windows XP Pro and I have a fully registered version of PSP 7. It seems that every.. half an hour or so it crashes on me for no specific reason. This is a fresh install of Xp Pro. Anyone else experiencing this or know anything about it?

Help would be appreciated, thanks.

I had that problem last week with it, LM, and I found out that it's not XP (primarily), but that you have a conflicting piece of software that doesn't like part of PSP. (or vice versa)

I had to reinstall PSP and all the plugins and go through and delete software (uninstall) that I usually didn't use. That helped.

Hope this bit of info helps ya.

Ugh that really sucks, beacuse this is a fresh install and I don't have anything installed that I don't NEED. UUUUUGH! I might have to scream. Thanks Tala hon :)

Ugh, that sucks. I'ma trying to figure out Photoshop at the moment, too used to psp I guess. *sigh*

So how are you? (Other than frustrated?)

7 is the first version of PSP that i DIDN'T have a problem with on XP.......... So I am not much help. With the earlier versions of PSP I found it was the image browser that was causing the crashes.

I've been using 7 in XP since XP came out...
Never had that problem...
(PSP7 was released pre-XP)

Try turning off autosave if it's on..
and uncheck the disk usage limit and compression on Undo/Redo space if they're on..

Another issue that might crash it has to do with nVidia drivers..
If you've got an nVidia card, update your drivers if possible, and maybe scale back on your hardware accelleration.

BTW, PSP8 is out ; )

If I could get psp to come out with the nice sharp graphics that photoshop does, I'd be delighted, however...

I've been using psp too long. Photoshop is driving me insane.:(

If you can't duplicate anything done in PS in PSP, you haven't got a very good grasp of PSP.

I only use psp for resizing photos, batch converting that kind of thing because it's much better for image compression.. Photoshop uses way too much meta information and that kind of thing and overinflates filsizes.. I prefer to design in Photoshop though, simply because it's the platform I've been using for years and I havent' used PSP much (since 6). I might have to look into 8 though, I hear it's terrific.

I beta tested it..
I bought it when it was released..
but I still haven't switched over to it fully.

there are many good steps forward.. (scripting/background eraser/selection modifiers)

a couple steps backward (IMO) (the default UI mostly, although it is 100% customizable, a couple things they overcomplicated, and they remapped the keyboard commands)

and a few that got improved, but not enough to matter (the text tool)

there are a couple bugs, which are already being addressed..
so maybe wait til 8.01 gets released..

Hmmm...teach me where evertyig is and let me go from there. I'll figure it out eventually, but dammit, it's driving me insane. :feels-hot

I'm certain that I have yet to tap all the intracies, but I can do a great deal of things in PSP. I want the ability to do the really sharp looking graphics available in PS.

How 'bout this: Instead of telling me that I haven't got a good grasp, tell me how to get that grasp or where to find tutorials to get that grasp?

How about this... take a little initiative, and go look for them. ; )
Or, come up with a specific example of what you're having trouble with... and I'll see what I can do for you.
