I used to be a webmaster with over 50k traffic a day.

Like two decades back, I used to be a webmaster of a few sites with over 50K traffic, using clickz to measure it. How things works right now?

CaptainHowdy 02-06-2025 03:48 PM

Welcome back. Twenty years ago you worked for it, nowadays you really gotta work for it (if you catch my drift.)

I kept getting $1000 wire transfers even after all my sites were dead, ccbill paid me from my affiliate programs.

People used to browse content on the web those days. Personally, I never seek any porn on web. What are the new trends? Should I get back to business?

Getting high quality traffic is an art form these days and not a simple solution. Read as much as you can and take advantage of the network here but it can be done

It's super easy. Just register a domain, submit some galleries, throw some links up to some affiliate programs, lean back and collect money.

Traffic is so easy to get in mainstream now with all the newest tools that have been coming out, and social media networks that are easy to penetrate, I dont see why people bother with the struggle of getting adult traffic these days.

If I was starting out today or starting over, I wouldnt be wasting my time on adult. The adult dating traffic that I do have these days is either from SEO or links to the domains that have been up for years and years, or from people clicking creative links from my mainstream sites.

Care to elaborate? I know mainstream blogs have been decimated by Google 'helpful content' algorithm updates. I had a few sex toy review blogs that were doing well, and overnight they had zero Google traffic. I could do reviews on YouTube, but I don't really have the personality for it.

Quote replying with ":1orglaugh:1orglaugh:1orglaugh" is the "like" button before FB existed.

Why would they delete it?
We haven't added any new videos and they still have it up.

What is mainstream according to you?

Is it mainstream dating, casino, toys, etc.?

Or is it authority sites, drop shipping, shopify, recipe blogs, etc?

Before you get too far into things, spend some time looking into the new age verification calls. Here's a quick link to get you started.

I don't go into too much detail with my non-adult business here. But if it's safe to show in a PG rated movie then I consider it mainstream.

The types of sites/industries you mentioned seem saturated, don't they? I don't run in crowds. Also, sometimes services make more than products.

How many PG-rated things do you search for? Probably way more than you think. :2 cents:

Alexander Cooper 02-10-2025 12:15 PM

Do you use paid ads or mainly organic growth methods? I'm curious about your approach to driving and maintaining that much traffic consistently.

I never really thought about it but now that you mention it, I'll be automatically aware of my SE searches from now on.

I do know I put the word "Reddit" after 50% of them, but I'll see what comes of this.

Ah but saturation is a good thing. It means the market has been proven for you. Now all you have to do is identify if the market is large enough for yet another thing in the crowd.

I'm in a market that is hugely saturated, yet the crumbs that fall down are highly lucrative.

I'm talking $100M ARR without even showing up on the radar of the top incumbents

Keep those checks coming and just go outside before the asteroid hits . . .

Mainstream or adult?

Do people "surf the web" anymore or just stay on their 1-2 big sites or social media?

To me, surfing the internet just seems broken. The magic of typing a search term into google and then clicking through the pages, you could find all sorts of info, whacky shit, and entertainment. Now? Dead Internet Theory seems real, as you no longer stumble upon interesting shit when surfing. Feels like the .com is pretty dead and just having a page or a profile on a big social media site is where things are at. Remember on pages when Wordpress comment fields were so much fun and people kept coming back for the gossip and long comment chains? Obviously that stuff is LONG dead. That stuff all moved to the big ponds of social media, rather than some dipshit's .com and blog page.

Mainstream. My research shows the industry will be at $105B in TAM by end of 2026.
