a BIG thanks from Ronnie (long post)....

I finally got an update in my email from my mother-in-law giving the latest test results after my uncles treatments. I am posting the message because she has several emails that bounce back and I want all those that were involved to know the latest news.

The results are great, and he still needs to fund some more treatments...but his gratitude is genuine and Ron gets pretty choked up when he tries to talk about what we did for him.

The original post for support was here:

Here is the email Rona sent out, it is long...but your support has made life saving results possible so it's worth a read:

To all of You,

I thought I would send you an update on Ron Klein. Since my last note on Mar 26 he has reached his 30th treatment. He can now walk up to an hour and has been able to start doing little fix it jobs around the house, like trying to fix a clock and fan. He even went fishing with his grandson on Monday, Memorial Day. Every time I talk to him he can't thank me and all of you enough for helping to save his life. He told me that in Dec 2002 he had been thinking of taking his life. He couldn't face being in a nursing home for the rest of his life and the doctor had assured him he would have a stroke either before or right after Christmas.

To get the most benefit from the treatments, the doctor recommended having 3 - 6 consecutively. He had the 6 on Mar 3 - Mar 8 and he stayed with my daughter. Having so many wore him down quite a bit so he did 1-2 for the next ones and then Apr 29-May 3 had his last 5 to reach the 30th treatment.

He has asked me to send you this note from him.

To All of You:

Thank you for the generosity that you have shown to me and to my family with the donations given to help pay for my treatments in Kansas City, Mo. May God bless you for what you have done for me, a complete stranger, and give to you ten-fold what you have given to me, my life. No amount of words can show you
the gratitude that we have for you doing this for our family. Following are the test results as of May 3, 2003. They would not have been possible except for all of you and your generosity.

Sincerely,
Ronald L. Klein

The right carotoid artery was completely blocked on 12/18/02. It is now supplying to the brain. It has show improvement in the last 2 months and is 75% open.

The left carotoid artery was 96% blocked, has opened and is supplying blood at a fair rate. The stroke that would have paralyzed him has been averted, but is still a possibility.

The artery that supplies the left eye still needs some correction and the right eye is clearing up better.

The aeorta artery coming off the heart has improved to the point that he can now walk a fair distance without being completely tire out. This has greatly improved his outlook on life and helped get him out of his depression.

The artery to his right kidney is now open enough to allow normal kidney functioning.

His blood test came back good. His triglycerides were over 300 and are now at 203.

Both right and left femor arteries are still mostly blocked but the treatments have produced a better blood flow in both. There is still not enough so at least 10 more treatments are needed to see if they can get these open more to reduce the leg pain.

He wants to try to find some kind of a job that he could do to try to get the rest of the treatments. Your donations have gotten him this far and our family got enough money together to pay for the last ones. I am concerned about him trying to work but also am not sure how we are going to help much more. He has to wait to get his social security check before he can get a treatment and then has to figure out how to pay the bills besides this.

I want to thank you all again for your donations and want you to know that you made a difference in a very good and loving man.

May God Bless You All!

Rona Amundson

Here is what has been paid so far with your gifts. Once again, if anyone wants to see the bills or test results, let me know and I will email them. For now I won't because of the size. The first note I sent and attached the bills were too large for some of the inboxes and couldn't get sent.

Not to be sarcastic, but can you sum it up in a few lines?

Cirrus did u read it, if so can you sum it up?

MuleScrote 05-29-2003 07:02 PM

Ok...Ronnie was given a couple months to live.

Surgery was too risky, so the doc suggested alternative treatment.

I raised about 5k on GFY for his treatments.

Treatments have been very successful, though he does need more.

Ronnie says thanks.

Better? :Graucho

Sorry, I know it is a lot to read. But many people donated hard earned money and they deserve to stay informed. This fund raising drive was mocked by some and others even yelled "SCAM". Those that know me and Mikey (from now extinct Phoenix Content) knew it was for real.

I always do everything I can to keep shit legit. Ya dig?

:thumbsup
