I always enjoyed The Ghost and the darkness (1996). I watched it again a few months ago. Val Kilmer was also very good in the film as well.

its based on a true story...
The Tsavo Man-Eaters were two male lions that killed many construction workers in Kenya in 1898.
The lions attacked and dragged off workers who were sleeping in their tents at night.
The lions killed at least 135 people, including railway workers and native Africans.
The attack halted construction on the Kenya-Uganda Railway for three months.
Lieutenant-Colonel John Henry Patterson, the leader of the construction project, shot and killed the lions.
