Stay safe - I forgot you were down there. I use to take my family all the time to Cuba and it was amazing. People were amazing and the beaches were so clean. The perks always kept us coming back for more and even though I hated to see the people living in those towns - their hospitality was incredible. We felt totally safe after I heard that tourists especially Canadians were off limits to crime since the country needed the money that came from tourists. Mind you - Americans were hated with a passion down there

Oh I was talking Cuba - I haven't been to Jamaica as of yet. Every bus ride to the resort - the walk thru at the resort and others would always ask - "are there any Americans here" - if there was a no then my god did they tear into them. Guess they are still hurt about not having new cars and all the ones (taxis) on the road are from the 60s and run on vegetable oil I think LOL. They keep fixing them up.

nah, it's weird. crazy heavy storm and only briefly lost power and have internet due to that awful Muskox dude. internet restored quite quickly as apparently there's a 'high value' (whatever that means, you can probs guess) tourist crew staying 10 mins down the road

house full of people, can't work. we're all high as fuck (just the green, nuttin heavy) and my neighbour lost her roof. we'll start on that tomorrow. few friends lost their homes, it's gonna be a whole rebuilding process and my door is open to those who need it


need to check on the boats and the office but will stay off the roads till the gov gives an all clear, don't want to get in the way of people trying to do the most important people stuff. not a fan of the JLP or the PM but they're trying and I'm down to co-operate

cat having a ball getting so many pets, goat Stanley inside behaving herself. her pad had one wall knocked in but can easily be propped up

St Liz hit HARD. up here, slightly less damage in my town that Beryl. will prob take a day or so to glean the full extent of the damage in Haiti. says a lot about Jamaicans that this is a top concern too

a few days after still reeling at all that has needed to be done, and so much more to be done. no workouts cuz hours each day wheeling barrows of rubble and nailing up new walls and still 3 fams in my home with no where to go

they are being SO awesome. I would wither and die without human contact but also need alone time and they are giving me that, even if just 30 mins at a time to not talk/interact a few times a day more than enough

really hard the first couple days after to maintain composure trudging up hills of mud to find out what homes still stood. then standing there watching people fall apart at losing everything. don't cry in front of people but did a lot of it in the shower

so many food animals died too, their shelters destroyed. so fucking hard to hold back tears watching other people in grief at losing so much

and that's up on the north coast

the hardest has been watching footage come in from the south coast (St Liz was destroyed)

Jamaicans are strong as a culture, one of my fav things about here. but our beautiful land has been knocked for a loop

the situ is St Elizabeth is dire, that parish (the equivalent of a province or state for NA'er context) provides much of the local food here. without that, reliance on imports which low income peeps can't afford at the best of times
