Psychiatric Association Debates Lifting Pedophilia Taboo
A friend just passed this link onto me. Possibly one of the most disturbing things i've read in quite some time:
http://www.cnsnews.com/ViewCulture.a... 030611c.html <i>"And other psychiatrists have written, again in scientific journals, that if children can be forced to go to church, why should 'consent' be the defining moral issue when it comes to sex?" she said."</i> What the fuck is wrong with these people? |
thats fucked
|
gee seems they think that pedophilia is so common its not a mental illness..WTF is wrong with those people..maybe the person or person deciding are peds themselves..ugh :disgust
|
the church has always been pro-pedophilia, so that comparison surely fits.
:1orglaugh |
That woman compared raping a child to forcing a child to go to church. Fucking unbelievable.

Homosexuality was considered a mental illness until 25 years ago. If one type of deviant sexual behavior is not considered a mental illness, why would other types of deviant behavior be treated differently? I'm not talking about child abuse, as it implies obvious sociopathic tendencies (disregard for the well-being of the victim), but merely a passive attraction to boys or girls who are either in the midst of puberty or have yet to reach that age.
In my opinion, it's the same thing. Whether you're gay, attracted to kids, animals, etc., you just deviate from the norm, but I'm not sure it is worthy of the "mentally ill" tag. |
gayness and pedophilia at the least has to be considered a chemical imbalance or something, and not normal.

I was talking to my friend "doc holly" and we were discussing what actually causes alot of fetishes and "not the norm attractions"..alot of the time it stems from some form of abuse as a child..its a vicious circle.... |
Hmmm, whats more damaging in the long run? Years upon years of semite brainwashing or getting your peepee touched?

It's been well documented that it's not the act of CONSENSUAL sex that ends up causing harm to the children, but the very negative way the society or culture you live in reacts to it.
Obviously it's different when the act isn't consensual, but to say anyone under 18 is automatically harmed purely from consensual relations with an adult is ridiculous. If the age were set at 17 then society would condemn everything below that preset age...if it were 14 it would be condemned for anything below that age. There are different ages of consent all over the world. In Russia I believe the age of consent is 14. In Germany the age is 16. In the Netherlands it goes as low as 12 with certain provisions. People aren't considered mentally ill neccesarily if they engage in these acts in these other countries. Personally I think the age of 18 is a good one as kids should have the right to develop as normally as they possibly can without any major sexual influence coming into their lives from an adult. Parents also need the ability to protect their children, and the law as it stands gives them that ability. But as far as it being a mental illness - like I said...that is simply a judgement that the society and culture you live in decides as a whole based on certain criteria. -joe |
There's no such thing as thought crime. But imagine if something like this goes ahead. Sites featuring 12 year old girls having sex with other children, or even adults, will suddenly become legal? Or at the very least, they'll have a means to defend themselves.
The suggestion that consent shouldn't be the defining moral issue when it comes to sex is outrageous. It's not okay to rape an adult, but when it's a child, hey, go for it? These people are seriously fucked in the head. |

Shooting random people for fun isn't listed as a psychiatric disorder in the DSM. Are shooting sprees legal? Do murderers use the fact their behavior isn't a psychiatric disorder to get off? Burglary, assault & battery, larceny and DUI'ing aren't mental disorders either. The article is a predictable attempt to get a kneejerk response from people who can't think for themselves. Looks like it did a pretty good job. Psychiatry isn't concerned with morality or legality, its concerned with pathology. |
