Fletch XXX 06-13-2003 10:15 PM

AC/DC is one of my favorite bands.

There is no AC/DC without Angus.

He has the best vibrato I've ever heard. It's amazing the number of catchy melodies he and his brother have created with only a dozen of chords!

Fletch XXX 06-13-2003 10:26 PM

No word of it, Jim Lad is joking about being commercial free, giving away shit, and hinting towards smokin herbs.

No mention of Angus.

This guy would know and would have surely mentioned it.

The latest Tom Petty album is named after this world famous LA Dj, JIm Lad rules.

Saw AC/DC live here in Brisbane in Febuary 2001.

Amazing show.

Couldn't hear properly for three days.

Brian's first 3 albums with the band are great. Sadly, he did lose his voice circa 1985. Other than Thunderstruck, Brian hasn't had many shining moments in the last two decades.

exactly.... and when was the last time they put anything out.... let alone anything good.

I love ACDC, but they shoulda retired with Thunderstruck.

I have bought every record since Powerage, regardless of Brian in it or not.

I like AC/DC period.

love it all, from T.N.T to Whiskey On The Rocks. but we all know Bon Scott was THE MAN. Brian can try to do it all he wants, like Ian Ashbury can't be Jim, bottom line. Brian JOhnson kicks ass, but he aint no fucking Bon thats for sure.

:)

The latest album is pretty good actually.

Definitely one of the better ones of the last decade.

A few of the tunes on it totally rock.

'Damned' is awesome.

cherrylula 06-13-2003 10:35 PM

this is gonna drive me nuts until I confirm it either way.

fuuuuuck

Spunky 06-13-2003 10:36 PM

I seen Aerosmith and AC/DC's first north american appearance back in 70 something..still remember as one of the best concerts I have ever seen. :glugglug

For 3 weeks in April/May of 1980, in Nassau (Bahamas), Brian Johnson's singing surpassed anything Bon did with the band. I love Bon's little stories, his quirky humor, his occasional self-deprication, his defiant whiny delivery... but when I put Back in Black in the CD player, Brian's voice just blows me away.

I'm rollin' thunder...

Now, sadly, he sounds like Donald Duck. Some of the bootlegs I've heard are absolutely hilarious. He and Robert Plant should see a throat surgeon.

Fletch XXX 06-13-2003 10:57 PM

You're talking voice, Im talking balls. ;)

Dude, I love Brian Johnson vocals.

Its like saying Ian Ashbury can't sing compared to Jim morrison, of course he can sing, but he aint no fucking Jim Morrison thats for sure.

;)

Peter Romero 06-13-2003 11:00 PM

AC/DC is the best skiing music ever... moguls & airiels!!!

Fletch XXX 06-13-2003 11:01 PM

and regardless of what Brian can sing, after Back IN Black he didnt write MANY songs that can compare to a Bon Scott written AC/DC track.

Bon's lyrics rule.

I love it all though man.

:thumbsup

edit: after contemplation I had to change a line in this post.

I agree wholeheartedly. In fact, his lyrical input was always minimal. Even for Back in Black, the Youngs already had the core of many songs ready and Brian just filled in the blanks. He actually wrote You Shook Me (and the "American thighs" line) while sitting on the toilet because of a diarrhea-inducing virus he caught in the Bahamas. I heard him tell that story on the radio and I thought it was hilarious.

Steve 06-14-2003 12:34 AM

saw AC/DC live at Jones Beach right before I moved to California - those guys kicked fucking ass, and this was 99-2000 (when the fuck did I move west?)

These guys might smoke + drink too much, but they were all in wicked shape - their cardio must be off the charts, because they busted ass for like 3 1/2 hours non-stop

no fucking love ballads from these dudes

and why retire when they kick ass live? they can go on forever (almost) like the Grateful Dead - who needs an album to tour?
