FCC media monopoly deregulation: good or bad?

As youse guys know the FCC ( under Michael Powell son of Colin Powell ) wanna deregulate restrictions on media monopolization. Meaning it allows companies to gobble up other people's shit.

Example is 'Clear Channel' the radio conglomerate that eats up all the local stations and floods us with the likes of Rush ( I've gotta mealoaf sandwich stuck in my throat ) Limbaugh, and Dr. ( ain't seen dick in years ) Laura.

To beat all that musicians are taking a friggin' beating. If they don't tow the line with Clear Channel they don't get played. Lotsa great alternative bands don't see the light of day and DJs are held back.

I was just reading an ARTICLE about this!

I think its a bad idea soon we will have a mandatory bar code permanently placed under our skin. It reminds me of an old Ice T song.

We interrupt this program with a special bulletin:
America is now under Marshall Law.
All constitutional rights have been suspended.
Stay in your homes.
Do not attempt to contact love ones, insurance agent, or attorney.
Shut up.
Do not attempt to think or depression may occur.
Stay in your homes.
Curfew is at 7 PM sharp after work.
Anyone caught outside of gates of their subdivision sectors after curfew
will be shot.
Remain calm, do not panic.
Your neighborhood watch officer will be by to collect urine samples in
the morning.
Anyone caught interfering with the collection of urine examples will be
shot.
Stay in your homes, remain calm.
The number one enemy of progress is question.
National security is more important than individual will.
All port broadcasts will proceed as normal.
No more than two people may gather anywhere without permission.
Use only the drugs prescribed by your boss or supervisor.
Shut up, be happy.
Obey all orders without question.
The comfort you?ve demanded is now mandatory.
Be happy.
At last everything is done for you.

Bad Bad Bad Bad Bad Bad Bad BAD!

No surprise Mr. Murdoch is behind all of this. He is pushing it in the UK and here in Australia too.

ALL of his newspapers and TV stations where very pro-bush, pro-war during the war, more so than any other media group. I wonder if this had anything to do with the favorable ruling by Mr Powell Jr. (Head of the FCC). Hrm!

The Times (of London) isn't so pro Bush.

Surprising, really.

And aren't they planning to broadcast Rush in the UK?

Wonder how that will go. :1orglaugh

I can't see Rush successfully working in the UK.

He would hate the National Health Service, but there's no way in hell it's going anywhere. I think if the UK Government ever tried to scrap it, there would be full blown riots.

Rush is an idiot that should not be aloud on the radio. I think the more talk shows on the radio the worst. Music is way better with a little talk in between songs.

Stop buying crap radios. Spend a little extra and get a dial so you can change the station.

This is an awful turn of events. The FCC has no clue what they are doing.

IF you want to support free speech over the radio waves -- you should join your local HAM Radio club...

The Boneprone Family actually owns most of the FCC through the big players in Amateur Radio... Stop bitching -- you don't even have to know Morse Code anymore to get your license...
