Paypal and designsers!
Hey there.
We are about to start our own design site (Yeah yeah another one, but we do nice work, and we have been duing it for way longer than most of you, just not on our own) The thing we are thinking about is this: Paypal no longer accepts content providers, will they also stop accepting adult designers ?? What do you think ? Anyone know anything for sure, please let us know. |
I talked with PayPal about this when the ruling first was announced and I also discussed it with my attorney.
If you are providing a service to adult webmasters such as design you are not affected by PayPal's decision. Those affected are anyone providing hard goods such as sex toys and videos and memberships to sites with adult content. |
I know your mom still takes paypal.

better watch out. you can use it but dont post it on your site and dont say anything adult on the transactions. Use it kind of privately for those customers who dont want to pay by visa or check |

But as fare as we know, paypal no longer accept content providers. They stopped duing so on June 13th (At least as fare as we know) |
yeah just use it for "design work" NOT "adult design" .. .

I still use my paypal account.

I have been told by PayPal that taking money for design work is prefectly acceptable to them, just don't put the PayPal BUY NOW button on your page. You can manually send an invoice to a customer and have them pay you and that's fine. They also do not care if sponsors pay with PayPal.
Now, content providers are technically providing a product (the downloadable pictures) and they actually have the PayPal buttons on their pages. You can't code the PayPal stuff into your pages. I believe you COULD, however, pay a content provider that sends you an invoice, for say, a custom shoot. Because it would be the SERVICE you were buying. The service of him shooting the pictures. The way I understand it, is they look at graphics design as a service. You're buying the designing of the site, not the site itself, since it's not in existance until the designer creates it. Something like that, anyway. But PayPal does not mind adult related service payments. They might mind it if you paid for a blowjob with PayPal, though. :1orglaugh |

But thank you for your input... :) |

I think they don't want the button on your site if you have adult samples because if some Christian lady comes along to your site by accident and sees porn and also sees a PayPal button she will think they are supporting pornography. They just want you to take PayPal behind the scenes, I guess. In other words, they don't want sites with pornographic content linking to them.
