I dont think you read closely
"The ruling was a default decision, after the five companies declined to respond to a lawsuit," |
Maybe time to balance the risk: buy Acacia stock?
|
prolly companies that they knew were not going to show up, thus giving them a easy judgement to pad thier case:/
|
Hardly a victory.
This was a default decision. It does nothing to either validate or invalidate the patents. The defendants didn't respond. No evidence was submitted or heard by the court. This is not a victory for Acacia, it is a non-event. http://www.impai.org |

I'm sure this has been asked here before but i missed it... so how come they are not going after realnetworks, music.yahoo.com, windows media player or any of the other big sites that use streaming video? Do they want to win money from us to try and fight the bigger guys like microsoft and yahoo??

I think Acacia has quotes as to why they aren't going after major players. (i.e. adult industry should be easier to get a ruling against from a jury. Get a few of the 700 club in a jury and we are gold)
Take a look at the US courts system and you will see it takes money to win even if you have a decent case. If you don't have a decent case and you have money and a few decisions under your belt, then you've got a chance. Virgin is not a big player at all... it is a slight of hand trick. Watch The deal is with virgin radio. They don't make any money anyway. I woudn't be suprised if the terms were that Virgin ship one order of fish and chips to Acacia on the queen's birthday, in return Acacia will show how they have extorted licensing fees from the mighty virgin corporation and all will bow down before the greasy yank with his scepter of malt vinegar. IMPA has this right. Stick with them. Help them out. They DO have everyones interests at heart and they are genuinely good people. |

I do support what the IMPA is doing, I was one of the first few to bring up acacia at this damn board. No matter how it is stacked this will be UGLY as all hell. |

Hotel chains are giving in? Are you referring to Lodgenet? Do they make money? Net? Do your own research before you make assumptions. Just because it's a press release doesn't mean it is 100% accurate. |
