Tapes like stock quotes and sports scores?

At least we know who didn't respond now.

Judge Alice Marie Stotler prohibited Extreme Productions, Go Entertainment, Lace Productions, WebZotic and Wild Ventures from transmitting compressed digital video from any of their websites.

Excerpt from their current patent: "The present invention relates generally to an audio and video transmission and receiving system, and more specifically to such a system in which the user controls the access and the playback operations of selected material."

So, it would seem to me that there are many ways around this.

First of all, just auto-play the video/audio, and remove the controls.

Secondly, it can be argued that in the statement "The present invention relates generally to an audio and video transmission and receiving system" indicates that their patent only applies to actual transmission/receiving systems, which if you are only transmitting, and the user receives it on their own accord, this is not a true system, as it has not been planned out, nor has it been setup to be a system.

In addition, their patent states "Audio AND video transmission AND receiving system(singular)".

The symantics of that statement do not apply to all video and audio streaming.

But, if you want to bend over and let them tell you that you have to pay them for something that you've been doing for years... Go right ahead. :)

By the way, if you haven't started yet,
Send me all of your traffic,

Thanks in advance.

no way!!

dude this company is getting way out of hand they claim they have patents on everything

Quote:

Acacia claims its patents cover just about every form of digital audio and video distribution. According to Berman, these kinds of activities violate Acacia's intellectual property rights: pushing MP3s from peer-to-peer groups, streaming newscasts from Internet radio sites and delivering movies through cable networks.

they are picking on the porn industry because it's easy... when are they going after Microsoft, or apple or Time Warner... this country is going to shit real fast... guess I'll have to move to Costa Rica soon
