A dolphin's fin isn't as sharp, and the tail-fin is horizontal

exactly... the tail fin in that pic is horizontal.... hence, dolphin. Shark tailfins are vertical.

That's somewhat debateable, the water blurs the tail-fin so much that one can't be sure. That dorsal fin looks more like a shark's to me, though, I saw many sharks as well as dolphins when I lived in South Africa. Whatever it was, I'm sure the surfer shat himself...I would have :)
