ACACIA and WMV format. MS will help us?
Just read this
The Redmond, Washington, software maker will pay its customers' full legal bills if they get sued over intellectual property issues relating to its products. Also, Microsoft no longer limits its liability when a customer suffers damages due to gross negligence or intentional misconduct on Microsoft's part, said Morris Kremen, associate general counsel at Microsoft, in an interview on Tuesday. are part of changes the company made earlier this year in its volume licensing program, according to Kremen...
Sooo you all are running windows server software? Thats what this appears to apply to. Or more like only the end users, not commercial users. Don't trust Gates to have opened himself UP to this problem fully aware these guys were trying to sue folks. :warning |

I'm bumping this because nobody jumped on it earlier today....Can you really just start serving your videos in .wmv format and breathe easy?
|
wow... some good news
|
No, they won't.
That option is only available to "volume license" holders.. Like Fortune 500 corps that have 10k Win XP licenses won't have to defend themselves if another SCO pops up and claims that they own all the patents behind Windows and start suing users. That's who MS is aiming to protect, they don't give a shit about Acacia yet. |
