some noname nerd kinda like the guy who invented dos then sold it to gates.

It wasnt Acacia thats for sure. There company seems to just be some slimy lawyers and some dumbfuck mba's that were probably the brains behind furniture.com and pets.com

GFED 07-24-2003 07:19 PM

I still haven't seen one feasible invention or claims... just an idea/process patent... ?

cezam 07-24-2003 07:19 PM

Dunno, but I invented message boards, you all have to wire me $1 for each post you make, otherwise STOP POSTING! :1orglaugh

asneed 07-24-2003 07:21 PM

They didnt invent anything they just patented a broad technology that was thought to be unique back in 1991 or whenever, but not the methods to make that technology work.

KRL 07-24-2003 07:23 PM

BusinessWeek has an article saying this guy invented streaming video for the internet.

My Uncle Sal but had to sell the rights during the depression to feed his family. Our family has been crushed ever since.

AssFairy 07-24-2003 07:39 PM

Their patents appear to make the claims that their technology was was not available before 1991, that's complete bullshit because I have several animation packages from 1980

Their claims about video compression is also complete bullshit because I have software from the 80's released as gnu public domain that employs well known compression techniques.

who gives a shit if its streaming or not the DOS pipe command will allow you to play any movie over a telephone line in real-time.

fuck em :2 cents:

AssFairy 07-24-2003 07:42 PM

And before some wise ass mentions that DOS won't multi task you still get exactly the same result using TSR (terminate and stay resident)

yep sold it for 50 or 75 k I can't remember and gates wanted to sell it to IBM not Lic. it. IBM said no we want to LIC. it god but didn't Gates step into it. Who would have ever thought.:Graucho back then. Most people thought it would be CRM not Dos that would rule, know I did hell the Jr. College I took some courses at had K-Pro's. Gods that was a looooong time ago. I use to do my homework on a XP and had a program that could convert it, so it would run on a CPM os

Video compression dates back to the 1960's:

Send these examples to the IMPA guys. Talk to Spike or the poeple in the group that's currently being sued by these nut cases..

If prior art exists (which I think certainly does) then make sure the guys that need that information to fight this thing have it. Stop helping the plaintiffs by posting all of this info publicly.
