audio equipment help

im patching a regular soundblaster pc card into a crazy large wall-set PA system and i need to know how to reduce the considerable hum that bursts over the speakers when i patch via MONO (RCA style) cable.

make sure there's nothing metal touching the tips of the wires other than the socket it's to be plugged in to

also, try and keep the power wire away from the mono wire

If you are running very far using cables and connectors like that you are making a big antenna and asking for hum. Those cheap connectors quite often are fucked up the day you buy them and make a bunch of noise.
