I'm thinking about driving down Friday night with a friend... I've never been to one of these conventions... Is it pretty much just a trade expo? Do I have to buy a ticket to the expo to get to the parties? Who will invite me to their party?

From what I know most of the parties are by invite. But if you sign up at the booth of the sponsoring company you are invited. As for the show it is 150$ per person.

you need a badge for the expo floor ($150 i believe), where you get alot of the party passes and what not, unless you know the people running the parties, then you don't need passes :-)

Is there a dress code?

You can go through the booths in a couple hours easy. There really aren't that many exhibitors. Its pretty much just an opportunity to meet and greet as they say. The parties are fun, but just like any other party everybody standing around munching food, drinking endlessly, and pretending to listen to what your saying while they're watching hot looking girls walking by out of the corner of their eye.

I actually saw guys walking around in t shirts, swimsuit style shorts, and flip flops last year. It was pretty funny.
