Arnie may take on porn king in poll

Los Angeles: In a twist worthy of Hollywood, it looked possible that "Terminator" star Arnold Schwarzenegger could face porn king Larry Flynt for the governorship of the state of California.

Aides to the Republican action film star said he was still mulling a run for the top job despite opposition from his wife. Democrat Flynt said he had picked up candidacy papers for October's gubernatorial elections.

Flynt, the notoriously outspoken publisher of Hustler magazine, said that Californians were progressive and may well accept a porn mogul as their leader.

"I don't think they would have a problem having a smut peddler who cares as governor," said the publisher who was played by actor Woody Harrelson in the 1996 movie "The People vs. Larry Flynt."

"I think I can do a better job of balancing the budget than those pinhead bureaucrats up in Sacramento (California's capital)," he said referring to the state's record 38-billion-dollar budget deficit.
