I really respect this. Making a movie all in dead languages, and not subtitling it. I think the idea is that a good story can be understood even if you don't speak the language.

Yeah, I'm sure they'll focus on intense imagery, the subtle emotions that get played out through a glance etc.

I'll go see it when it's finally released.

i had no idea prior to all this that mel gibson was such a fruitcake in his private life...

When I first heard about this project, I thought "whafuck?" but then I saw the trailer on AICN and was blwon away and now I'm eagerly awaiting this movie. Subtitles or not, I want to see it.

a $25M investment into a movie that will double that in revenue the first weekend is not a waste of money.

not as bad as wasting $50+ million on the masive bomb that was "Gigli", a screaming 3 million dollars at the box office...

he maybe just thinks this will bring him money, so he does it.

my point is, anything is possible, its not unlikely that he is not religious at all

if he were in it for the money, he would have made the movie in English ;-)

I was making a statement of fact, not speculating, So was archer. He most certainly is a religious nut, and his father is even worse. Daddy Gibson adheres to a schismatic sect of catholicism which believes, I shit you not, that Pope John Paul 2 is not a real catholic because he's too liberal.

Gibson (Mel this time) had a church constructed in his house so he can hear his masses privately, in latin. He's one of a very small group of ultra-conservatives who believes its wrong to say mass in English.
