dual monitor setup question.....
how do I make it so each monitor has its own desktop (its own taskbar, start menu, etc...)
|
get another computer and attach it to the 2nd monitor
dual is usually 1 desktop over both |
nah there has to be a way
|
you can't the closest you could get is to get another computer and peer to peer them together.
|
it can be done for sure
all you need is __________ and you can find it at _________ who's gonna fill the blanks? |
you can split your desktop using two monitors. dual head video card is required

you probably need X.

I dont think i've ever seen one where you can have your own start menus.
http://www.nvidia.com/object/feature_nview.html Nview has some cool features, but i dont think it lets you have different start menus/task bars? Never used it myself as i dont have two monitors :2 cents: |
if you think about your question real hard, am pretty sure you will see that it can't be done. :2 cents: not with a standard monitor.
|
yep, there is no dual start menu option sorry
|
you dont need a dual head video card you can just use to matching cards. I have 2/32 mb cards diff brands and it works perferct.
|
i just installed a proggy called UltraMon
it lets me have a seperate taskbar (without start menu) and when you move a window to the second desktop, it moves to that taskbar as well.. i cant move icq to the second monitor for some reason though |
If you did the usual 2 monitor deal and then ran a separate instance of your OS in VirtualPC in the 2nd monitor
pain in the ass if you ask me |

hahah thats hilarious :1orglaugh |
All you need is a Matrox G550 or G450 and you can find it any nearly every retailer. It comes with good software for REALLY managing your desktop across two monitors. If you're like me, you'll graduate to THREE monitors and buy the Matrox Parahelia card.
