1) Blues Brothers
2) Bullitt (Am I the first one to spell it right?)
3) Ronin
4) Matrix Reloaded (but you gotta see it in IMAX!)

Gone in 60 Sec, especially the remake, doesn't even make the list. Why? Because it wasn't real. Film and computer tricks make it look like cars going 30mph are going 70.. that's not a chase.

If you get the Bullitt DVD there are some additional materials that show the Corvette chase/film vehicle that was made to keep up with the 440 Mopars and heavily modified Mustangs used in the main chase. They show them actually filming at 60+mph, and all the mistakes that they left in the movie (cars driving through that weren't supposed to be there, the missed turn, the overshot turn that wrecked some guy's parked Ford & camera stand, etc).

senseidru 08-09-2003 04:18 PM

Without a doubt Ronin.

That car chase is fucking unbelievable. But I havn't seen French Connection I hear that has a phat scene.

Mike AI 08-09-2003 04:39 PM

The new Bad Boyz II had a very good chase scene!!

I love gone in 60 seconds, ronin, and blues brothers!

titmowse 08-09-2003 05:50 PM

The chase scenes from The French Connection and Bullit have always made the top of the list when it comes to the best on film.

My personal favorite is Steve MQueen trying to jump the barbed-wire fence on his motorcycle in The Great Escape. I've seen it over 20 times and I still think it's possible he'll make the leap.

arial 08-09-2003 05:52 PM

I like the scene from Matrix: Reloaded. Bad Boys 2 was nice and T3 was just awesome.

Bullitt & Ronin

Hard to compare just the chase scene. Both were great movies!

baddog 08-10-2003 12:26 AM

Bullet and French Connection pretty much a tie in my book. Followed by Butch and the Sundance Kid, when that posse is after them for days. You just can't show that kind of endurance which a car.

"Who are those guys?"

DirtyDanza 08-10-2003 12:30 AM

hands down the best driving skills for a chase scene is RONIN.... now with computer effects and shit... maybe matrix.... but real stunt driving hands down to RONIN... in fact I am going to watch that movie now

Matt_WildCash 08-10-2003 02:24 AM

The best movie car chase scences are in "Ronin", those are by far the best, FUCKING AWESOME sound too on a kickass home threatre it shakes the seats and has wicked surround sound when the bullets fly

Matt_WildCash 08-10-2003 02:31 AM

Nice to see so many others saying Ronin, so many others i've talked with discounted the movie as crap. (they have no taste) and never have seen it.

the original gone in 60 seconds chase scene. much better, like 40 minutes of chasing, crashing and smashing.

and not a second of it was computer animated. it was all done by the director himself...

You know m8, infact when they were making the movie the director wanted authentic sound effects for the cars so they actually spent a lot of time recording the sounds from the actual cars used in the films. That film fucking rules!

cafeaulait 08-10-2003 08:14 AM

BMW Films :thumbsup

directfiesta 08-10-2003 10:01 AM

Ronin : real and amazing!

The chase was the creation of stunt master "Remi Julienne" .... This team did most of stunts in all french productions.

XxXotic 08-10-2003 10:08 AM

wasnt a long chase scene, but king of new york, when the cop got "head" from the fire hydrant when he was hanging on the car door... was pretty snazzy

Babaganoosh 08-10-2003 10:29 AM

Bullit, Blues Brothers in a funny sort of way, and T3. That fucking crane chase was kick ass.

Matrix sucks. Too many effects, not enough plot.
