do you guys get back aches?

Just driving today and out of nowhere my back fucking hurts, I can barely reathe, can't take a deep breath.

now I'm home sitting in my chair and it's better, but still hurts, can't lift anything at all still can't breathe.

do you guys have ergonomic chairs or anything to prevent this?

Juicy D. Links 08-13-2003 01:32 PM

I get it all the time cause my testicles weigh 10 lbs each and it puts stress on my lower lumbar spine.

slapass 08-13-2003 01:33 PM

I have one of the chairs you kneel in it and I trade back and forth to break up the position.

mule 08-13-2003 01:35 PM

Only when I'm menstruating

ScriptBall 08-13-2003 01:36 PM

As a matter of fact I do get back aches, Might have something to do with my 2 slipping discs, degenerative disc disease, Anteriolisthesis, shermans disease, and getting hit by a jeep when I was 17 :\, Althought I don't recomend having back surgery EVER.

I do suggest that you lie down, sounds like you've pinched a nerve, when you lie down flat your back straightens and streches slightly might unpinch sometimes works for me.

loverboy 08-13-2003 01:37 PM

yup, i get a massage every week :thumbsup

I know exactly what you mean... back was fine then out of nowhere I got this cramp in my lower left back and it hurt like a bitch and I couldn't breathe in without making it worse.

It finally let go and ever since then I've had chronic lower left back problems. Fucked up.

stuff is expensive, but does the trick for me

Only when I play too hard... happens often if I play a hard game of hockey.

It's not the crippling pain though

JoeS 08-13-2003 02:52 PM

It's VERY important to take breaks once an hour and get up and streach. Hours spent with your shoulders hunched forward puts a ton of strain on your neck and back and can cause very serious and extremely painful injuries! I speak from personal experience.
Trust me ... get up once an hour and walk around or streach your arms and legs.

Make sure you have your PC monitor set at eye level.
Get a the best chair you can afford.
Use a wrist rest for your keyboard.

Also once an hour look around the room at something in the distance to avoid headaches caused by eye strain.

If you plan to be in this business for years and you don't do these things you have a 100% chance of getting injured or at the least headaches and eye strain.

Sorry to hear about your back pain Marcus. I would recommend that you go to see your doctor and a good chiropractor.

Take care,
Joe

I get back pains all the time. Its from sitting in front of the computer for 14 hours a day:thumbsup

JoeS 08-13-2003 02:58 PM

WarGames! 14 hours? Man you are asking for trouble.
S T R E A C H IT O U T!

and get a life! I mean that in the nicest more respectful way. :)

This business can get people obsessed with earning money and getting traffic. Meanwhile our lives pass us by. It's important to have a well rounded life. Spend time with your loved ones, read a book, take a class, travel etc..... Otherwise five years from now you may have top google rankings and a new car from all your massive joins but you will have missed out on the real important parts of life.

Take care,
Joe

SLY1 08-13-2003 04:41 PM

A few years ago I had problems off and on that put me on the couch all day long totally unable to move. It was terrible. The pain would start in my lower back, creep about half way up, and then wrap around my sides. Each time I moved I felt like I was being stabbed in all these areas. Deep breaths even caused pain.

I'm wondering if computer desk chairs can play a role in back problems. The chair I was using at that time was way too high up to be a desk chair, and my keyboard tray was touching my legs.

sly2 08-13-2003 05:06 PM

No, but my finger hurts when I am typing too much

Samoan 08-13-2003 05:08 PM

Those keyboard trays are evil, man. They're never at the right height.

lamrobertson 08-13-2003 06:16 PM

For two years I was using a kitchen chair at the computer. My back and my arms ached all the time.

I picked up an office chair at staples for 100 bucks and I don't have backaches anymore. Get yourself a good chair.

muchmoreporn 08-13-2003 06:35 PM

as i lay here on my lazyboy couch that vibrates with my laptop on my chest, burning the fuck outta me, yea i better get up eh.

JoeS 08-13-2003 07:04 PM

Yeah ok so everyone stand up right now, push away from the fuckin computers and streach like you used to in PE in highschool.
Once an hour if you can. But if you put in 4 or 8+ hour days without a good chair and without streaching you are asking for a serious back or neck injury. And it may not happen right away it could be next month or next year but these things build little by little and then when a disc bursts and pinches on a nerve you are fucked good.
You then have two options.

One you get your disc fused which means they cut you open like a fish, yank it out and replace it with a piece of bone. That reduces your range of motion and causes extra strain on the discs above and below that disc. Then they go out one by one.

Or you can get epidurals. Thats the shots they give pregnant women for child birth. You get a series of shots in the spine with a needle about 8 inches long and the steroids block 90% of the pain. Then you live in daily pain the rest of your life. The more you type on the keyboard the more you get pain shooting down your arms and in your finger tips. Oh and if its your neck that goes forget about ever having another full nights sleep because you'll wake up every couple hours from the pain.

So I say this with to you from personal experience fellow porn slingers. BACK AWAY FROM THE COMPUTER NOW! hehe at least once an hour. Otherwise you are playing russian roulette with your health. You may be fine and never get a disc injury but why risk it? Really life is more than getting another join or two on your site. Try going for a walk in the middle of the day. It gives you time to rethink your approach to your business.

Stay healthy and wealthy!

Joe

I agree you probably have a pinched nerve. I had the same thing happen. It's weird, but there is not much you can do for it. Just wait for it to work itself out. Stretching out all the time will help prevent it from happening again. At least it has me.
Also, make sure when you lay down flat on your back you bring your knees in towards your chest. That will straighten your spin out flat. Lying flat with your legs straight and nothing under your knees puts strain on you lower back. Just my:2 cents:

It is possible that the right chiropractic adjustment will give you immediate relief.
