Going Offshore

I was thinking of starting a new adult biz. Given the nature of it I might as well put it offshore. Anyone know of good companies that could help me out? I know of OCRA, but they don't allow porn, so they can't help me with this one.

IMP^or^SNiTL.e 08-18-2003 02:16 AM

ummmm Mcdonalds..? they have nice caaa

BRISK 08-18-2003 02:58 AM

What do you mean OCRA doesn't allow porn? Did they tell you that?

milambur 08-18-2003 03:31 AM

Yes they did tell me that.

Read their Terms of Business paragraph 2.3.11

Remember: Being offshore is illegal. You got to pay to play. Big Brother IRS is watching you.

It's 100% legal. Not reporting your world income would be what the IRS would get pissed about.

In Canada, which I'm sure works very similar to the U.S., the government taxes 100% of your worldwide income if you are a resident of Canada for 183 days in the year. Setting up your business offshore is legal in itself, but keep in mind you are still "required" to pay taxes on your income in the country which you reside.

Yep, its something close to that. On the U.S. tax return is a question, something like:

"Do you have any money invested in a foreign country, or a substantial controlling interest in a foreign business?"

Lie, and you just made a felony.

There are ways to use offshore (U.S. movie productions all do it) but you need a sophisticated attorney that specializes in such to be (almost) safe, not some clowns on the Internet.

Tell them you are doing internet advertising or marketing and you are fine with OCRA. You can use your offshore company for whatever you want that isn't illegal.

the IRS allows whats called a "Foreign Earned Income Exclusion" on up to $70,000.00 if you are living 335 days of the year outside of the country.

you dont necessarily need to pay taxes where you "reside". it depends on if there is a double taxation treaty between your country of citizenship and where you are "residing" .

Is it possible to open company in Canada while not being a residence/citizen of the country ?

Does nobody else wonder what 'nature' of pornography he is doing that living in Sweden makes him think he needs to go offshore?

Sweden has some pretty damn liberal laws when it comes to pornography.

Just so this guy knows too... hosting your shit offshore wont protect you if you are doing illegal BS crap..... most countries will prosecute you based on your country of upload so even if you hosted in outer mongolia and uploaded your illegal shit from Sweden you are still breaking the law.

Not necessarily. Why do you think most people setup offshore accounts?

Go take a look at the way the Swedish tax system is set up and while you are at it also check out the tax system in Denmark.

Why do you think they have 25% VAT rates?

phillyrich 08-18-2003 07:31 AM

If you don't mind the UK formationhouse.com

It doesn't matter what the swedish tax system is. People who setup offshore companies rarely report the fact to their country's tax collectors. So they don't pay tax on income earned offshore because they don't report that they have any money offshore.

The Swedish government can only tax you on income it knows you earned.

Yep, but that 70K is mostly for engineers and contract programmers on assignment overseas, and as you said living there 24X7. (I think you can visit the U.S. 2 weeks a year).

You don't need an offshore corporation to take advantage of it.

Obie Trice 08-18-2003 07:41 AM

Are you swedish?

Ofcourse they want you to pay your taxes on your income from your offshore company. Which i don't think is illegal at all. But it's a fact that 99% of the people starting offshore does it to get out of taxes. Which is normally 50%+ on swedish business income.

The only way you can get away with offshore payouts is through a anonymous ATM card i guess. Cant think of any other way except cash by mail. All wire transactions or creditcard can be traced without you knowing it. Then you get fined, up taxed, have to pay intrest etc. Or worse. You know tax evasion is worse than murder by the law :)

Most people who own an offshore business would have an ATM card or credit card that is in the name of the offshore business.
