i just though the same thing.. i need to cut expenses, and if they can offer something like that to new users im sure they can do to the old ones as well

one would think this is a "new client" promotion. companies do it all the time to entice new clients. my ISP offers 3 free months all the time to new clients... does that make me, an existing consumer open to 3 free months? no.

It's like me asking my cell phone provider for another 2 free months because all new customers get 2 months free. Ain't goina happen. Oh wait, they have 50 cents off bread at the supermarket. Can I take my eaten bread back and get that 50 cents off? Naw.

Ok, look. It's called a PROMOTION. I payed 300 dolalrs for my 27 inch tv ok. I have it FOR LIFE. The next person payed 450. Promotion was over. The people before me a week earlier payed 450 also. Promotion was not in effect. What makes this any different? Nothing. It's still just a promotion.

if they dont give me a discount, oh well, i know some reputable servers offering 10mbps for less than $500, and this is less than i am paying

Yo Sly....let me see if I can explain this one for ya (cuz I sure have had to do it enough ;)......this is not directed at any one person....just anyone who may have the same question....

When a hosting company runs a sale like this it is a "Loss Leader"...this means that they are going to lose money on this account for the life of the account....but add back in the promotional value, the board play, the goodwill among new clients, etc. and it becomes worth it. If they had to reduce everyones price because they have a sale, then it would not be a sale, it would be a Rate Reorganization.

Ask yourself this question......if you take advantage of this limited time offer and then in 6 months you want to add another server should they give it to you at the "sale" price?? I dont know about Sly, but we never will.....the sale is a predtermined time and then it is over.

Anytime we run a sale like this we always have people coming the next day saying "Can I get the deal" and the answer is always no.....there is no promotional value in extending the date and noone is here to lose money :)

Think about this one last point.........what good is served if your hosting company is not profitable? We have seen that happen alot this year....how many people got hurt in the process?? Is this *really* what you want??

Then why not just stay with them regardless? They are top notch and worth the extra buck. I understand your frustration. I'm sure everyone does. But your missing the point. It's a new client promotion. If every previous consumer in the world was entitled to discounts every time a new promotion was released, companies would not exists.

How long is the sale good for? What's your policy when it comes time to upgrade the server? When we get a new system will the price reflect that?

The sale is good until I run out of this particular setup! I still have some left, don't be afraid to grab me.

Upgrading later on isn't a problem, just find me and I'll fix you up with a new setup and new price.

Yep, I'm almost out. A lot of people have been picking these bad boys up for gallery servers and a couple program owners have been grabbing them for hosted gallery servers. It's really a sweet deal, if I didn't already have a box I'd be all over these.
