A cowboy had married his sweetheart and on their way back from the ceremony, the mule pulling their carriage slipped and the fellow said "strike one".

A bit later it faltered again and the cowpoke said "strike two".

The third time it slipped, the guy stopped the carriage, got out and shot the mule square between the eyes.
