IRISH people spend more on drink than any other country in the world and are also among the heaviest smokers and sufferers of heart attacks.
The survey of 177 countries shows Irish people spend around ?1,200 each on drink every year. This figure is 48% more than the second highest country, Britain, which spends 784 per person on drink.

While Irish people are spending the equivalent of ?23 for every man, woman and child in the pub every week, they are also smoking an average of almost five cigarettes per day.

This is the third-highest rate in the EU. The heaviest smokers in the world are fellow EU members, the Greeks, who puff their way through 8.6 cigarettes a day.

The high smoking and drinking rates mean that Ireland has the fourth-highest rate of heart attacks in the world, after Finland, Sweden and Norway.

a friend of mine ran a bar in Dublin for a few years and he said it was wild... teens can drink there.. not sure what the drinking age is..15 or 16 maybe?

I know where my next vacation shall be. I just adore people who have their priorities in the proper order.

18+ to drink legally but a lot bars in Dublin are 21+ now

i dont think it was strictly enforced either..my buddy had to leave there cause too many chicks wear always hitting on him and he could never tell if they were 15 or over 18.. didnt want to get himself in a mess with some crazy irish family that wanted to kill him and probably would have in a drunken rage..lol

he did mention that teens drink freely there... just part of tradition :)

I love the Irish! I partied with many Irish in Japan on the soccer world cup and it was amazing! Great people!

English people acrually only spend about £100 per year coz us Scottish people make up that figure. spend more than anyone else!!!
