Can you give me an idea as to what area of the city that's in such as I mentioned, N, NE, S, SE, SW and so on or is it downtown? I kind of need to know what's the best part of the city that way. Thanks.

birds hill is north east - just outside the city. Low taxes and all NEW high end homes. My FIRST pick

tuxedo is old money - central west.

linden woods is good too, all newer big homes.

the worst parts of winnipeg are the north end and downtown. - but overall there are good area within those parts as well

what kind of house or rent are you interested in?

I don't really know for sure, I was looking for not big homes out in the suburbs, I wanted a 2 bedroom apartment or 3 somewhere near a university or some of the nightclubs and stuff so that I would be close enough to get out and mix it up just outside my building.

NICE 2 bedrrom aprt there - heat included - are about $850ish a month. chaper ones are $600.

canadian. fort garry is the south west part of the city. RIGHT close to the university of manitoba.

if it's the University of winnipeg than you need to look downtown. I'd stick to the BIG apartment buildings, 10 stories PLUS. a two bedroom in one of the nicer ones would be about $800 ish as well. there are nice ones behind portage place - connected via above ground tunnels to the mall (and soon the new arena) and the YMCA

canadian money - it is canada......duuu

Thanks man I didn't know if you were giving me US prices because I'm from the US, but 800 candadian isn't that much really. So it's in the southwest between part of the Red River. I'm going to take a look. Thanks!

fort garry would be the southern part of winnipeg on the west side of the red river - the east would be st vital

So a place like this might be alright then

What do you think? Looks good to me.

that's one of the BETTER apartment block complexes in winnipeg. Right beside the forks of the red river and the assiboine river - right downtown. VERY VERY near to main street and broadway.

been there many times - almost rented there once actually. I've sceen many of the apts in there.

awesome restruant on the top of that building - revolving.

good indoor parking.

cool gym built into the complex. not really near any universities though
although right on many major bus routes.

there is an apt building beside it on the west side of that complex (it's three buildings) that's a lot higher end - but the rent would be more for that one. can't remember the name of it.

Digipimp 09-30-2003 10:17 PM

So that place or some on that block would be cool then right? And is that near any of the night scene or anything like that? It looks like it has a mall in or right there at it too.

the mall in the building never took off - it sucks. many vaciencies and a lot of the stores were turned into fashion outlet head offices and the like. not really retail. there's a small ethnic food store in there that you might be able to buy milk and coffee at, but that's about it. - BUT it's RIGHT BY (walking distance) the forks marketplace and that marketplace is AWESOME. all kinds of exotic stuff at the forks marketplace.

it's VERY CENTRAL, about as central as it gets - bars tend to be located all over the city so if you're a bar hopper being downtown in that location would be very central to most of the nightlife winnipeg has to offer

Digipimp 09-30-2003 10:26 PM

Seems like that might be the place to go, are there tunnels and stuff to stay in so I don't have to go outside when it gets nice and cold?

some - I don't think that building is tunneled to any others though - but it has indoor heated parking - you'll find that's ESSENTIAL in winnipeg. don't touch an apartment without it

if you want a building with a tunnel to a decent mall then you need to find the apartments behind portage place - 3-4 towers there are connected to the huge mall (portage place and eaton place - plus the bay) - YMCA, office buildings, restruants, etc. they arn't as nice apts as that fort garry towers though and the price would be similar, maybe SLIGHTLY cheaper.

SleazyDream 09-30-2003 10:31 PM

why are you looking at winnipeg?

Seems decent size and nice with good prices for what you get as well. I don't know for sure though.
