Anyone on Prevacid?? If so read (or if you suffer from GERD)

I was perscribed Prevacid to fight GERD about three years ago and the stuff worked wonders. When I was on it I was working for Electronic Arts as a developer and had a pretty kicking health package. Paid essentialy 5$ for any perscription.

The .com bubble burst and the economy took a downturn and November of 2001 I found myself laid-off. I had enough cash saved to live for a while and twords the end of that cash I invested to start my company.

What I did not expect was my perscription bills to be close to 500$ a month YIKES as money started to run out and be focused on other things, It really started to get me worried about these damn perscription bills.

I'm on Paxil, my wife is on Paxil and Gabitrol, Prevacid and Norvasc I was on Alegra and Rhinoquort for a while but I dropped those and just started dealing with my alergies (I find hot tea works wonders). So anyway...enough background.

Prevacids competitor Prilosec just released an over the counter version of there product. I was VERY skeptical. Living with chronic heart burn sucks when it hits your fucked and it just does not go away. Finaly I said fuck it... I'll be completly dammed this shit works.. once a day easy as shit. Keeps the acid away.

24$ Vs 136$ for a month supply... which one would you choose.

:)

Good job! I know my grandmother is another one of those types who's always looking for alternatives, not for herself (she's a senior and her perscriptions are mostly covered), but for my mother who doesn't have a health plan atm (she's an American citizen so... ). They both have stomach problems so I will let them know about your findings! Not sure if it's available in Canada yet, but if so, it's a good find:)

You don't even want to know how much I pay a month for perscriptions. Let's just say it would make a very healthy car payment. I should start ording my shit from Canada or some shit. It's fucking insane.

Yea I looked at some of those but they were like maybe 5% less so throw on shipping and save nothing. I found one that looked real good price wise but the shit was from India and that just seems too shady to me.

I've had an ulcer and reflux since I was 18.
went through several scripts.. most worked, but only for a couple weeks... eventually ended up on Prilosec.. been on it since, haven't had heartburn since.

cost isn't too bad.. get in 3 month bottles at a time through the mail.

fyi.. the Prilosec costs me $20 for 90 pills.

Not.

Look into Protonix.

I took prevacid for a long time and they made me switch to protonix because it's cheaper. I think Protonix is a generic version of Prevacid.

I pay around $48/mo for a bottle of protonix
