That's very cool. I've never seen a model plane that didn't have a propeller. Does it have little jet engines?

WebTitan 10-14-2003 09:00 AM

VERY cool. Gotta get one of those toys!

Brad-Wishing 10-14-2003 09:00 AM

WOW! That's unreal. I've always been fascinated by model airplanes and such. But this tops the list of coolness.

Joe_Blow 10-14-2003 09:00 AM

That is awesome. I want to see it land.

That's something I was wondering, it must be a bitch to land that thing in one piece.

yes

MarcieB 10-14-2003 09:10 AM

Damn that thing is FAST!!! Where can I buy me one of those?

...I always wanted a RC Chopper with a cam under it...add some bluetooth and just imagine how much fun one could have with livestreams LOL

Triple 6 10-14-2003 09:12 AM

HOLY SHIT that was the coolest thing i seen all week.

seems like it takes two people to fly that shit. I wonder how much something like that costs... Hell that would be cool if it had a camera in front of it and you can pilot that shit like a video game.

Lonny 10-14-2003 09:16 AM

That was awsome best Model plane I have seen so far, Do they have one of the A-10 Warthog.

swedguy 10-14-2003 09:18 AM

That's just unreal...very cool.

Some more info about model jets
http://www.geocities.com/eaussie01au/jetaction.html

swedguy 10-14-2003 09:22 AM

Here's a shop:
http://www.tornado.fsbusiness.co.uk/

They got jet helicopters too

Lonny 10-14-2003 09:23 AM

those Turbojet moters are unreal

swedguy 10-14-2003 09:28 AM

http://www.jet2.de/indexd.htm

Lots of videos, but the site is in German

Tanker 10-14-2003 09:30 AM

I have an A 10 in my closet I need to build it

Shok 10-14-2003 09:32 AM

hey yeah I fly these and lots of other R/C planes.

Turbines rule, but they are way expensive and you need special waivers to fly them since they are an explosive hazard if they go in.

Project-Shadow 10-14-2003 09:34 AM

V.Nice .. you should be able to get those with reward points from CE cash... mwuhaha ^_^

Shok 10-14-2003 09:35 AM

here is a good video of a Jetcat startup, turn up your speakers

P-120 startup

swedguy 10-14-2003 09:40 AM

Lots of links to people that sell jets
http://www.jetadic.com/links.html#commercial

http://www.usamt.com/
The smallest engine is about $3k and the biggest about $5k, ouch.

Extremely cool though :thumbsup

Shok 10-14-2003 09:41 AM

naa you can get them cheaper. A Wren-54 (12lbs. thrust) with full autostart runs about 1700 US.

MarcieB 10-14-2003 09:47 AM

Now these jets are pretty cool and stuff but the thing that would really get me hard is a scale-model B52 with mini-jetengines and all the other crap. Hell, maybe even with bombing-options. That would really rock my world!

I read somewhere that some of these models actually have small firable missiles and stuff. Anyone with a videolink?

GoGoBar 10-14-2003 09:48 AM

I assume it's all local laws, but does anyone have any info or links on the general rules/laws regarding flying these things?

Shok 10-14-2003 09:53 AM

here's a picture of one of my models.
This is a giant 100 inch wingspan Cessna Skylane.
The front tire came off saturday during a flight and the nosegear dug in a caused some damage.

you need to join the AMA to be legal

Looks like a private organization. Seems kind of weird there would be a a private org you'd have to join to make something legal. That's like saying I have to be a AAA member to drive my car legally.

I'm saying all of this before I read the site, just seemed strange to me at first glance :)

Lonny 10-14-2003 10:01 AM

Heres two links I found
http://www.bvmjets.com/
http://www.centuryjet.com/

Shok 10-14-2003 10:03 AM

almost all fields are ama sanctioned which means you need an AMA card which is a 2 million dollar liability insurance in case you hurt yourself or someone

and yeah BVM is the tops in jets but you will pay out your ass for one.
I personally prefer Yellow Aircraft

Now that makes more sense :)

Smegma 10-14-2003 10:19 AM

Hell Yeah.

http://www.tornado.fsbusiness.co.uk/...80newlarge.jpg

Luft 10-14-2003 10:22 AM

It may have inner jet enjines.

EZRhino 10-14-2003 10:25 AM

That was so fucking cool.

swedguy 10-14-2003 11:14 AM

shok,
I haven't found any info on how fast these jets can go. Do you know how fast they can go?

Shok 10-14-2003 11:17 AM

the fastest clocked is around 310mph

almost all have a speed limiting sustem to keep you under 225mph.

At 200mph it will cross the horizon faster than you can move your thumbs on the stick, so flying that fast can be a creepy ordeal.

JSA Matt 10-14-2003 11:20 AM

I want one that looks like a little UFO... :thumbsup

Shok 10-14-2003 11:21 AM

I used to have a flying witch :)
