DRM on bookwormbitches - hows it working out socal?

Safety of mpeg? Isn't that kind of a contradiction? You'd be much better with a DRM solution with some kind of built in licensing security, vs. a completely unsecured mpeg that people are free to distribute on their Kazaa feed.

We handle it for So Cal and a bunch of other companies. It works wonders and provides security and traffic back and conversions. If you have original content and want to try it out hit me up.

I think he's referring to the fact that everyone can watch mpegs without a problem. Don't you need some kind of codec installed to view videos protected by DRM? Just curious.

It plays in windows media player and the basic security features are built into it. As long as your player is 7.1 or above which I think at this point everyone is, you have no problem.

yep :) it's a question of how many chargebacks from pissed of mac users.. I mean they're only 2%.. but with a 1% CB limit...
Also im not that worried about mpegs being traded in kazaa, we're going to p2p spam it ourselves. But yeah when it gets to be your whole members section...

I might just do that - we're doing something inhouse, but i don't know where it's up to. BWB is kinda the first small unique content paysite i've seen with DRM downloads off the tour.. would be good to know what sort of conversions you get and extra revenue from kazaa etc.

We dont do the members sections. That is not owrth the risk of losing customers and its not that much of a risk overall. I care about front end and other tools we have to get it out there.

SleazyDream 10-17-2003 09:30 PM

3 popups IS getting a bit excessive though.......

Hmmm. That's a good point. It might be worth placing a OS detection script on your join page. If someone with a Mac comes along, they're informed that the videos wouldn't be compatible (I didn't know they weren't, that's interesting). That would be a good way to minimise your chargebacks from Mac users.

DRM works well if managed correctly. We have actually stopped using drm on our tours but may continue again in the future. Alot of potential in this field.
