OFO (Old Farts Only): Who Went To See The ORIGINAL Night/Living Dead & Texas Chainsaw
Alright, was feelin' lonely as I remember the summers when the ORIGINAL " Night Of The Living Dead " and " Texas Chainsaw Massacre " came out. Saw em at the Drive-Ins!!! Back in the days of double-triple features and tons of great cheap food!
Night of the Living Dead didn't scare me one iota. I thought it was stupid but very well crafted! Texas Chainsaw however scared us so bad we couldn't piss straight for years. |
yep.... saw it at the drive in.

don't wanna go see the new version of 'Texas' but the posters look cooler than lit shit.

I remember them coming out but at the time I was working alot to survive and never got to go see them. The hubby had the VHS's and I saw them in the mid 90's the first time around. lol
They seemed sort of lame compared to all the newer things but after watching them a few times I got back into the teenage mindset and realized how classic they were. :) I was slow on the uptake on the Highlander and some others as well. :1orglaugh (Slept right thru H5 at the theatre, surround sound and all!) |
1976 maybe? Had lunch one day and decided to goof off for the afternoon. Went to a triplex and started with Chain Saw (so-so). Next was 'Ode To Billy Joe' (crap). Finished with 'The Outlaw Josey Wales' (brilliant, especially Chief Dan George).
I liked Living Dead, but scary? No. I don't remember which studio made it, but it reminded me of Hammer's output (Curse of Frankenstein, Dracula, etc., etc.). You either loved or hated the stuff, but they were almost corny in a way. |
