As long as I have been in the gig that I am in now - I have only used the primary company name ONCE and only ONCE - everything else purchased - reg'd etc... for everything has been the DBA's.

- This is the first letter I got addressed to me personally with the primary company name attached that NO ONE knows about.

I started fishing around logging into various sites I have bought content from, sponsors and so on.... and to my surprise I came across ONE AND ONLY ONE that had the exact same information as the letter sent to me personally and not the company DBA's I work for.


I am 99% sure the culprit who sold the lists starts with an M and ends with an X - My friends we have a nark and instead of cowering behind press releases and posts full of lies - these chumps need to fess up.

it's amazing how many people only used their info once.

yea, i received a letter today... i have never done business with any of the companies listed, never even signed up for their programs.... except matrix, and i never bought content from them anyhow.

is there anyone who received the latest letter from them and does not have an account with MC?

Like I said in my other post, it could also be by someone getting a hold of their mailing list or the list with whoever they process their transactions with, or an employee could have sold it on the side.

You never know.

I can't believe he would sell out the people he depends on for his business, because only a fool would due that knowing how fast adult webmasters are to crucify anyone who betrays them.

I used some of the companies listed... but i moved in a new house and ONLY matrix had my new address because they had to send me a check (from partnership program). So my letter from Acacia can only come from Matrix...

Yea, but if it is the CC processor, they have no right to give that information. Any one of these places could get sued - the CC companies are not allowed to give any information like that!

Ok, say Matrix didn't sell out but the list was stolen. Could you sue for damages because their security wasn't good enough to keep your info private?

This is a very good point and I just about fell outa my chair when I logged in and saw the match to the primary company and not the DBA's. The site acct is under my name too cuz its my company credit card I used. (even the co card has one of the dba's on it and not the primary so its not that) No sponsor - no AVN Internext reg - no one has this company name... it was a mistake on my part to use that one to begin with - I just started here and for the letter to come to ME personally and not the owner of the company or the name that the domains are reg'd under just shows even more that this is the case.

Disgruntled employee is a huge maybe - but for a pissed off employee to go as far as to contact Acacia, broker a list on the QT to them and make bank from it is kind of off the wall. Isn't that a little shady on Acacia's part as well and they could get sued for something like that - would they risk this in the midst of their world video patent domination and shareholders trust if that was the truth of a sold under the table list?

I will give the named source the benefit of the doubt because that is only fair (you can ask anyone that I'm one of the straight up guys in the industry) but what I see in front of my eye's... speaks for itself and my jaw is still on the floor. I HOPE this is not the case but from what I have read in the other posts and what I now see personally, I'm friggn pissed to no end - I still can not believe what I found.

I have been feeling SO left out of all the Acacia drama. In the course of my design career, I have had to lease content from the above referenced content provider on several occassions. I just logged in to see what they had for my contact information. It wasn't up-to-date...so I updated it.

Let's see if I can finally get my Acacia sales pitch in the mail in the next week or so. This could be an interesting experiment!

SiMple we might have a problem on our hands. Imagine someone very big in the industry, wanting to be like Acacia, consulting Acacia on how to attack us. Now imagine this big fish has customers lists. Things are starting to add up here. I'm afraid to say that it's entirely possible that a big guy consulting for Acacia gave them an extensive list to work from.

WOW that's disturbing - that is a whole new nasty ballgame then.

Whoops, misread the question. I do have an account with matrix along with accounts on the list and have not received a letter.

Yeah it seems the more you dig... the less you like what you see.
I don't think anyone's gonna come on here and admit that they share lists of our info. But I can tell you that it's entirely possible that your Acacia letter was sent using information from shared/purchased lists.
