Have you ever seen him in person? I know this is gonna sound strange, but the pics don't even do him justice. He's just a freak of nature. Even though he looks huge in pictures, it's just unbelievable to see him when he's standing right in front of you. I swear he looks twice as big. It's just bizarre. :helpme

I'm happy one of the old timers has the crown but I hate to see Ronnie all juiced up like that. He was natural when he got his pro card back in 89 or 90. He looked decent back then but now you can tell his stack is formulated by the expert sports doctors. I think Lee Haney was the last decent looking Mr. O.

I've never understood the point of bodybuilding, especially at the pro level. Being big and veiny seems to serve no useful purpose.

I've always wondered.. are these guys capable of wiping their own ass? I mean seriously. Check out the lats on these guys. They'd surely get in the way.

Bodybuilding is a power sport which can give you a good shape, more power and energy. If you don't abuse your organism with drugs, it will only benefit you.

Pro bodybuilding is another chapter. It pushes the limits of human body with no restrictions.

Holly: no kidding - these idiots really have no idea.. the guy is just a freak of nature, but he's also a really REALLY nice guy. I trained with him (at the Belleve Athletic Club) when he was at the 1996 Emerald Cup as the guest poser..

Pornwolf: get over it. Steroid freaks are what people want to see (myself included). If we didn't have steroids, we'd still be having Frank Zane-types winning the Mr. O and that just ain't right..

Soul_Rebel: the only "dangerous" part of bodybuilding is the actual contest day. Shooting diuretics and withholding water to remove all subcutaneous water is where people run into trouble (they pass out backstage ALL the time).

Yeah, I've met him a few times as well and he does seem like a really nice guy. My ex-husband is a competitive bodybuilder, so for several years I had to eat, sleep, and drink that junk 24/7. I still do to some extent cause he needs help getting ready for shows.

I'll almost be glad when he gets a new girlfriend/wife. I've cooked enough chicken, mixed enough shakes, and painted on enough layers of Pro Tan to last me a lifetime. Along with some other stuff, lol. ;-))

:1orglaugh Gunter is my favorite, too. We had to pick him up for a show here when he was the guest poser, and he is just an all-round nice guy. Always smiling and happy. Even if you didn't like the sport, you'd have a hard time not liking him. No doubt about it, he's the best guest poser and crowd pleaser, anywhere.

Hahahaha, Frank Zane! 'But he's sooooo symmetrical!' Wasn't that his selling point back in the day. Maybe that Fitness Made Simple fruit could finally be respected if the juicers stopped winning. :1orglaugh

if you win the olympia once, they just keep voting for you. arnold, dorian, lee, lenda, cory - i believe they all won more than 5 times. and now ronnie.

i'm not saying he isn't big, and i'm not saying his physique isn't mature and symetrical - but there are some other REALLY great bodybuilders out there. arnold beat serge oliva more than once, and many people felt that was silly - serge had a denser and really classic shape, and more muscularity than arnold at the time.
