Apple G5 - Dual 2Ghz w/ Panther
 

Holy fuckin shit.

Got my dual 2 g5 last week.. it's fast as hell.

Now i just upgraded to panther and WOW!

This apple is much faster than ANY pc i have ever used in my life.

Anybody else got their g5's yet?

Nope ... have never really used an apple for much. Long time ago in the early days of computers, but not lately at all.

Might have to check them out again.

Waiting on a G5 laptop :)

Im sure its fast, but 2 things:

1. On what do you base your comparison.

2. Have you used a 3000$ PC built in the last month or so?

my dual 1 gig G4 went from a 120 score to a 134 when upgrading from 10.2.8 to Panther.

Bind a mouse button to expose...you'll love yourself later. I just
put panther on my tibook, very very nice. We'll see how it does with full duplex usb audio now.

it's all about f-9.

i have f-9 bound to the 3rd mouse button. i've never had a more useful utility in my life.

i'm gonna check out that benchmarker. looks cool.

one thing i've heard though. is that upgrading to panther is not nearly as good as a fresh install because there are some bugs in the upgrade. my laptop got fucked during the upgrade somehow. but after a fresh install. it's amazing.

I just got the exact same computer as you bro, G5 with the dual 2.0 proccessors, plus I upgraded to 2.5 GB of ram. I haven't upgraded to Panther yet, but I'm going to this week. This thing kicks ass already, I can't see how it will get any better though.

advice though, DONT UPGRADE... it is has had a lot of reported problems and it for some reason leaves your system slower than it started.

When you do the install, backup your shit and then do a clean install of panther and it'll flyyyyyyy!
