Why have we not had a BLACK president?

i know 99% of you (Odin88 being the 1% lol) think i am racist, im actually far from it.

Im not anti-black, just pro-white ... contrary to what you may think, there is a major difference, and it does not make me racist.

Anyhow, i think its fucked up that the black man has never made it into office.

You cant tell me along the way, there has not been a single black or other ethnic person that has shown promise and compassion for this country ... cant tell me none of them deserved to even run :/

fucked up ... i dont even know where to begin with my thoughts.

Its easy enough to say that the majority of america is racist, or that the white house is being run by white men who are afraid of the black men, but is this REALLY the reason?

We prolly wont ever know why ... but i am pretty sure once an ethnic gets into office, unless he slaughters millions of people, he is sure to be re-elected for a second term ...

I dunno but I wish Al Sharpton would win the democratic bid. He doesn't have to get elected but if he wins the primaries a $50 bet is worth $10,000. :Graucho

did colon powell run for office some time ago and lose? or was it just rumor that he was considering running?

serious question ... not being sarcastic

Kevin2 10-27-2003 10:10 PM

Thats got me thinking now. I have never seen a black racing driver in formula one. Does any one no if there has been one?

Speaking as one of the few brothas on this board, the main reason we haven't had a black president is b/c it's NOT the popular vote that puts the president in office but the electorial college. If presidency was decided by the majority popular vote, Rev. Martin Luther King, Jr. would've been the first back in the day. You'd have niggas coming out of the grave to vote for him.

DarkBob 10-28-2003 12:12 AM

Rich, hows the black/white ratio been at your local BK lately?

On the right path but not exactly right. It's not a fault of the electoral college, but it is a fault that its not the popular vote. But furthermore, it is racism in our countrys two big parties which promote candidates, so for a black person to make it up their ranks and to be considered a candidate for president is much more difficult than for a white person. So its not really a question of who is qualified, but simply that few qualified black people currently make it high enough to even be considered.

Look the percentages of the different races in the US. Consider the fact that everyone is biased toward their own race. There, you have an answer.

i think colin powell was one of the few sensible people in the current US government, especially during the run up to the iraq war - maybe because he's been and done it rather than just sitting behind a desk sending soldiers off to war. he also puts bush to shame with regards to international diplomacy. but i read somewhere his wife didn't want him to run for president.

will smith was on tv over here recently saying he wanted to get into politics later on. he's got the charisma to make it to the hot seat one day i would imagine. i don't know what his policies are but he's in hollywood after all, and that seems to be worth a few extra votes in the US currently.

DeadFidel 10-28-2003 04:33 AM

You will see a woman be President before a black.
And as Chris Rock says..You will never see a black vice President, Why?, 'couse some sick ass will shoot the president....

Penn E. Less 10-28-2003 05:55 AM

Did anyone see Al Sharpton (Democrat, running for President of USA) on "Hardball" yesterday?

Doubt it. Remember when Bill Clinton said "I will create a party that represents America" - I think one women was on his team by the time he was done.

rooster 10-28-2003 06:05 AM

the democrats keep black people down. What was the highest position given to a black by them, Ron Brown? Commerce Secretary?

Condi Rice has a chance at least as vice president. Her and Jeb Bush would be a really hard ticket to beat.

KRL 10-28-2003 07:04 AM

If you look across the US, the powers that be seem to only position blacks in as Mayors and Police Chiefs and some congressmen and that's it. Just enough to make it look like the system is really balanced when we all know its controlled by white guys.

Colin Powell could have been a Prez, but he knew he'd be a sitting duck for an assassin's bullet and his wife discouraged him.

I'm still amazed we haven't had a women Prez yet. Where's Hillary? LOL

I watched a segment on A&E some time back on Colin Powell and his wife eluded to what you've said...

If Al Sharpton gets the democratic nomination, Bush would be a shoe in. So for a gain of $9550 you would be willing to take another four years of Bush. Bush's tax cuts save me far more than $9550 PER year (not over four years like in your scenario). So therefore I should definately vote for Bush, is this correct?

Mikey_219Inc 10-28-2003 07:51 AM

ill vote for the first black guy to run ... just to piss off white republican assholes. I think we're gonna have to work on getting a jew and woman in office before an african american ... other than kennedy (first catholic, no?), the grandson of liqour smugglers (love that...), its all been klan members thus far hasnt it? fucking babtists... i doubt lincoln even gave a rats ass, just wanted to help himself win the war with the emancipation ...

god i think im getting sick of politics.

please can we have a decent democrat on the ballot?

VideoJ 10-28-2003 08:48 AM

Yep, Colin Powell didn't run because of family. Not that he had a chance, the repbulicans wouldn't put a pro-choice canidate up no matter what his color. If he had ran as a democrat, he'd be our president now.

We probably won't see a black president for another 10-20 years, we'll see a woman sooner. The question is how soon will the black mayors today rise up into the goveners and the senate.

I said $50 makes $10,000. Therefore $500 makes $100k and $5,000 makes $1,000,000. If I thought Sharpton would be running I would drop more than $50 bones and leave the country when Bush was re-elected. :Graucho

!!!!!!!!!!!we already had a black president!!!!!!!!!!!

Dont any of you go to the friggin movies anymore?? Deep Impact

Danny_C 10-28-2003 10:32 AM

I think the media has a lot to do with it. If you watch the debates, Al Sharpton consistently has people on their feet, cheering. The other candidates just get scattered applause... and of course, nobody wants to have to directly follow Sharpton, because how can they top him?

So that being the case, why is it that Al is so marginalized in the post-debate analysis? His name is barely mentioned, and Dean is always declared the "clear" winner.

hyatla 10-28-2003 10:35 AM

I would vote for Colon powell, no matter what party he is in. Too bad he cann't run now, with that dumbass in the office.

Tofu 10-28-2003 10:39 AM

Ive said it before and I will say it on this forum, America would never let a Black man/woman become president. If it DID happen, he would be turned to ashes before he walked into the oval office.

:2 cents:

Not to mention the fact that America has devolved to the point where the person elected is simply the one that is the least objectable. Putting a ethnic person in the race would just be a waste of time.

You guys still think you have control over who gets elected president? :1orglaugh :1orglaugh

Have a history teacher explain this----- if they can.

Abraham Lincoln was elected to Congress in 1846.
John F. Kennedy was elected to Congress in 1946.

Abraham Lincoln was elected President in 1860.
John F. Kennedy was elected President in 1960.

Both were particularly concerned with civil rights.
Both wives lost their children while living in the White House.

Both Presidents were shot on a Friday.
Both Presidents were shot in the head.

Lincoln's secretary was named Kennedy.
Kennedy's Secretary was named Lincoln.

Both were assassinated by Southerners.
Both were succeeded by Southerners named Johnson.

Andrew Johnson, who succeeded Lincoln, was born in 1808.
Lyndon Johnson, who succeeded Kennedy, was born in 1908.

John Wilkes Booth, who assassinated Lincoln, was born in 1839.
Lee Harvey Oswald, who assassinated Kennedy, was born in 1939.

Both assassins were known by their three names.
Both names are composed of fifteen letters.

Lincoln was shot at the theater named 'Ford.'
Kennedy was shot in a car called 'Lincoln' made by 'Ford.'

Booth and Oswald were assassinated before their trials.

And here's the kicker.......
A week before Lincoln was shot, he was in Monroe, Maryland
A week before Kennedy was shot, he was in Marilyn Monroe.

Good, so we can expect our next best president on 2046! :thumbsup

Rinaldo 10-28-2003 11:00 AM

Only african american that ever had a chance was Collin Powell.
The man had more write in votes than anyother man ever. But most people dont know that. He also had a lot of people pushing him to run for President, but he had some complications along the way. He'll never run now.

;)

user 10-28-2003 11:07 AM

Hehehe you American guys really make me laugh.
Why? Well for quite some long long time now the whole world laughs at the ordinary US-American for being totally butt-fucked by all your officials.
I mean do you guys still keep in mind that Mr. Bush junior isn't your legal president right now?? Does anyone of you care? No! Why? Cuz the media tells you not to care!

So plz promise me one thing dudes, stop even try to think about real problems like racism in your country, because you are all so freakin' brainwashed that any kind of objective view is scotched before its creation.

Now I hope you guys won't come around and :ak47: my neighbourhood just because I may have pissed you right now...

[illnet]-Romeo 10-28-2003 11:08 AM

You have to look beyond just not having a black president.

Every President with the exception of 1 (JFK who was a catholic and was shot) has been a WASP... White Anglo-Saxon Protestant Male.

Rinaldo 10-28-2003 11:09 AM

nope... but if you know what the deal is in the US and you continue to live in it and profit from it... is it so bad? I think it beats communism and serious oppression

hyatla 10-28-2003 11:16 AM

I would love to see a latino president! :thumbsup

lock 10-28-2003 11:54 AM

Pornwolf 10-28-2003 12:12 PM

Oprah would beat anyone running against her by an unprecedented landslide. She would be the first candidate to get 80% of all votes.

NoCarrier 10-28-2003 01:01 PM

Can you imagine the president of the United States trying to steal cars around the Whitehouse during the night?

U got your answer..
