Bush caught lying today?

Bush Disavows Mission Accomplished Banner

Six months after he spoke on an aircraft carrier deck under a banner proclaiming "Mission Accomplished," President Bush disavowed any connection with the war message.

When it was brought up again Tuesday at a news conference, Bush said, "The `Mission Accomplished' sign, of course, was put up by the members of the USS Abraham Lincoln, saying that their mission was accomplished."

General Clark said Bush "backtracked on his May 1 political photo op on the USS Abraham Lincoln by blaming the troops on the aircraft carrier for the declaration of 'mission accomplished' in Iraq."

Some TV news have reported tonight that the White House did create and place the banner, even though Bush said that they didn't. Caught in a lie?

No.
Only in the minds of the Bush haters.

Look up the speech that he made that day, not the twisted crap in the press.

He didn't say that he didn't know, he blamed it on the troops on the ship.

If you "didn't know" then you would blame someone else, rather than saying you didn't know?

You think a president should just start blaming the U.S. military for anything he doesn't know about?

Any location were the president will be doing an official speech ( mostly televised) is carefully reviewed ahead of time by his staff. A report is given to the president. In the event that something is not appropriate, it is corrected or the event will be delayed or canceled.

Don't beleive that this whole photo op on the carrier was spontaneous... It was carefully planed to the last detail.

What was not carefully planed was winning the peace in Iraq ( amont other things) making this banner now look stupid. But he surely knew .

Q Thank you, sir. Mr. President, your policies on the Middle East seem, so far, to have produced pretty meager results as the violence between Israelis and Palestinians --

THE PRESIDENT: Major or meager?

Q Meager.

THE PRESIDENT: Oh, okay.

Q Meager.

THE PRESIDENT: Meager.

Thank god he didn't say " nuclear" .. that would of been funny to hear him repeat it twice....

PS: that robot.text, this is real!!! Doesn't it mean that search engines will disregard those pages?

After the news conference, a White House spokeswoman said the Lincoln's crew asked the White House to have the sign made. The White House asked a private vendor to produce the sign, and the crew put it up, said the spokeswoman. She said she did not know who paid for the sign.

Later, a Pentagon spokesman called The Associated Press to reiterate that the banner was the crew's idea.

A bit like the WMD: one day they are here, the next day gone... Somebody should get their stories straight: that is the success to lying!

Regardless of the propaganda... Bush will be here for 5 more years :winkwink:
