Is long term adult "webmastery" detrimental to your overall health?

I love money. I like working for myself, but it seems the more I make in the adult biz.... The shitter I feel in general. Is there a correlation or is this just a coincidence?

Maby its the 14 hour days or the binge PEZ eating/coffee drinking.

i pretty much agree. i have to make a truly huge effort, in order to stay in any kind of shape.

:thumbsup right on... I love that stuff. You cant buy that shit in the bags though; gotta brew it from the whole leaves.

eroswebmaster 10-29-2003 08:05 AM

I usually throw out anything that turns green.

The shows are more detrimental to my health. Everything aside of that is cake!

Have it too, make sure you only work 8 hours a day, 5 days in a week, do nice thinks in the weekend, go out on evenings spent some time with friends and famaly and go on a vacations minimal twice a year That should give your life a boost, I do it that way and I feel Great:D

I think it depends on the person, it also depends on your diet and if you do any exercise. I think for most webmasters it is detrimental to health though but I really don't think it should be because as far as jobs go its probably one of the most flexible jobs around ! You can do what you want when you want, one thing that I find that has completely fucked up since becoming a webmaster is my sleeping pattern. I stay up very late (most nights till about 3 - 4am) and then wake up around noon - 1pm which people who work 'normal' jobs find hard to tolerate because it pisses them off. I also found that my eating pattens also changed and I was eating meals at early hours in the moring (around 1am)

I think most webmasters have very weird sleeping patterns though and I don't think thats healthy

I agree...

Its 11AM in NY and I woke up last night at 6PM and have been wokring all night. Its pretty messed up when you eat brekfast before you goto sleep. If my schedule stayed like that it wouldnt be so bad... But it slowly shifts untill im on a normal day again then begins to slide back to me staing up all night.

that doesnt apply to me. i go to bed around 10-11PM everyday and wake up at 6:30 or 7AM. i find the day seems to last longer if i get up earlier opposed to going to bed later:2 cents:

My sleeping pattern was messed up for years and when i finally wanted to change it to something more normal it took a lot of effort but it was worth it to get it back to normal. For the last few weeks I have been waking up around 7am and going to sleep around 1 - 2 am, I've found that sleeping in the day for an hour (around 4 - 5 pm ) really helps though and means that I don't become more and more tired as the day progresses

Still boils down to the fact that an irrigular sleeping pattern is not healthy and im very happy that I finally got mine back to normal because I've found that I'm much more productive now than I was before :glugglug

I am convinced this business has some insane physical and mental side effects. Aside from the fluctuating hours, most I know are mentally fatigued from the stress, paranoia, and social quirks of the job.

That being said, it still beats most other career paths.

My advice is to get on a normal schedule, do the work you are most effective at, outsource the rest, and fill the rest of your life with things that are enjoyable and meaningful.

I push myself to work far too hard sometimes, when I should really just work smart and delegate some tasks.

footguy 10-29-2003 12:03 PM

You ain't kidding.

I feel fine physically but the mental anguish is starting to show I think. If it isn't one thing it is another. The server is down, the models are flaky, there is nobody you can really talk to about all of it...... it is a drag. Let us not even start with all the government crap, CC companies, Acacia type issues etc.

What really kills me more than anything else is that I have lost countless tens of thousands of dollars simply because I do not want to tape any nudity or explicit type material. Yet, I wind up being treated in the same ruthless fashion. Just as an FYI, I am judging nobody.

I like feet. I turned my longtime fetish (Jeeeeez I hate that word) into a small business. Is that so freakin' wrong?

On the flip side, when I was a computer network instructor things were pretty bad as well. The office politics are simply unbearable and the travel was killing me. Not to mention the piss-poor attitude of those in the classes that had been sent there for free by their companies. That really killed me.

All in all I think we are non-conformists. While the Internet was greeted with such fanfare, they quickly realized that people had a little too much freedom and they are now reigning it in. Just remember that a war was fought for a 4% tax and now we pay 20-30% and we are supposed to smile?

We also live in a society where $$ dictate whether you are right or wrong. 30 years ago being gay was a pretty big problem. Now that they have banded together, everyone is tripping over themselves to appear gay-friendly. Nobody is adult webmaster friendly.

People in Japan and many southern european countries smoke like crazy. Their life expectancy is no lower than in the US. Not plugging smoking here but there is a lot to be said about working and worrying all the time. Why doesn't the government ever advertise that?

And how much money have all the dorks spent on education over the years? The situation is going from bad to worse. Yet they want to repeal the tax cuts and spend on education simply because the masses are buying it..... Not knocking education, just saying that we are being tricked into thinking that $$=better educated people.

"They" are part of the accepted system. We are not. So while I appear to be writing a novel here, I do not think it is all that odd that you don't feel good. I just wanted to elaborate on some specific points as to why this may be true..... for me at least.

Thanks.

I agree with the stuff about the government. I mean honestly the terminator is now a governor. Riding a plane is like entering a prison (A scary comparison when you really think about). They are trying to give tuition to ILLEGAL ALIENS. I could go on. When I used to talk about American civil unrest and even possibly a civil war in the coming years my 53 year old father used to scoff, but lately he has actually been agreeing with me. I'm not saying the blind masses are going to suddenly wake up, but the seeds of discontent have been sewn especially among the intellectual underground. Our constitutional rights have been stamped on over and over again. Prison populations have doubled since the mid 80's. The more prisoners you have, the more money you get. How is that system supposed to work in the peoples best interest. Its not. Our times have me extremely paranoid; not of terrorists, but of the system that grinds our youth up and molds them into ignorant cash cows.

You shouldn't rant. Its contagious.

As for the foot fetish thing..... well....... Your just a freak. :winkwink:
