what to do with a guy who generates a DOS attack ?
 

We had a belgium guy generating a dos attack on our server, just for fun i guess, he tried to take a site down that got a lot of attention in the media lately.

We got the logs, next step is go to the police i guess (since its illegal in Belgium for sure) but whats next ? any europeans who can tell how to get this ahole ? The total costs for having to reboot the server and keep it offline for like 6 hrs are around $2500

Are you saying he used resources on you server to launch the attack? Or, was your server the target of the attack from someone in Belgium? If you server is in the states and the attacker is in belgium, good luck.

yup the server is in the states the guy in belgium and im in holland like 25 miles away from belgium :) anyone who can share some advice how to handle this ?

Can you explain in details how he attacked your box?
Where was the attack from? How?
How long did it last?

tie him to the back of a truck and do 120 down the highway

pay him off

ask him to forgive you
pray to the God father
